Yukina vs. Yuzu Kurosaki (The Loving Sisters)

VS.

This is it ladies and gentlemen, February's last Bleach Hakusho post is here. But fear not - March's upcoming Bleach Hakusho posts have yet to begin. So let's end February on a good note by introducing these two lovely ladies, Yu Yu Hakusho's Yukina, Hiei's sister, and Bleach's Yuzu Kurosaki, 1 of Ichigo's sisters. Why these two you may ask? First off, these lovely ladies are supportive, caring, and kindhearted people that can do no harm. They are genuine in my opinion - genuine sisters that have an impact on our main heroes. You can't really say that with all brothers and sisters, but in this case, I think they are the ideal sisters of their respective older brothers. Though not strong or possessing any combat capabilities, I find them both to be interesting characters that share love and kindness towards everyone around them. Without further ado, I will be comparing Role in Story, Personality, and Relationship to Protagonist (Ichigo & Hiei).

Role in Story (Yukina)
Yukina was introduced at the very end of the Spirit Detective Saga where she was being held captive by Gonzo Tarukane & The renowned Toguro Brothers. It was there where Yusuke & Kuwabara fought the Toguro Brothers for the first time and her fated meeting with Hiei, unbeknown to her that Hiei is her long-lost older brother. Afterwards, Yukina accompanies Keiko, Shizuru (Kuwabara's older sister), & Botan w/Team Urameshi to be the cheerleaders for Team Urameshi in the Dark Tournament held by the Black Black Club. She, for the longest time, has been looking for her long-lost brother, who was cast away from her home. She is born as an ice apparition, meaning that she can manipulate ice to make crystal tears and is proficient in healing. In the end, she entrusts Hiei with the necklace meant for her brother, hinting that she may have accepted Hiei as her long-lost brother.

Role in Story (Yuzu)
Yuzu is Ichigo's and Karin's sister. Unlike her siblings, she can somewhat, but not see spirits & hollows. She doesn't play much of a pivotal role in any storyline of Bleach, but plays the motherly caretaker of the Kurosaki home alongside her father, Isshin. She cleans, vacuums, and cooks, much like a mother would. Ever since Masaki's death, Yuzu has taken over as the mother figure in the Kurosaki household. She deeply worries over her brother's safety, but knows he's old enough to take for himself. Yuzu is unaware of her family's situation - Ichigo being a Shinigami/Quincy, Isshin being a former Shinigami, and Karin's familiarity with Shinigami. During the Fullbringer arc, however, Karin & Yuzu were under the impression that they've known Tsukishima (who used his Book of End fullbringer on them) for a long time, but Ichigo tried to persuade otherwise that he was the enemy despite Yuzu and Karin's perceptions on him. To date, she has yet to shown interest in Ichigo's affairs with the Shinigami.

Personality (Yukina)
Yukina is a kindhearted girl who fears for the safety of her friends. She constantly is on the look out for her long lost brother, unaware that it is actually Hiei. She is genuinely a pure-hearted girl who can't do no wrong, but it's unfortunate that she was taken advantage of by Gonzo Tarukane and her tears made from crystal. Afterwards, she goes on to support Team Urameshi's endeavors.

Personality (Yuzu)
Yuzu is a motherly figure in the Kurosaki household. Ever since her mother's passing, Yuzu does everything in her power to keep everyone safe and together. Like any younger sister, she worries for the safety of her family, but at times has a playful side shown when she is playing with Kon (dressing him in a dress). She is a very empathic person and as a result, she's responsible as a caretaker + a ongoing student.

Relationship to Hiei
Yukina is unaware that Hiei is her actual brother, but comes to accept Hiei as her brother as she entrusts him with the necklace meant for her brother. It is heavily hinted that she knows Hiei is her brother since he is overprotective of her and was the first one to save her from Gonzo Tarukane's tyranny. It is safe to say she genuinely cares and worries over Hiei's safety and has placed a lot of trust on him as a friend and a brother.

Relationship to Ichigo
Yuzu genuinely worries over Ichigo's safety and as a result, wonders about his whereabouts. Like I said previously, Yuzu is the mother figure in the house and cooks, cleans, vacuums, and even gives Ichigo haircuts. It is safe to say that despite Yuzu only seeing visible outline of Spirits/Hollows, she knows that everyone is doing their best to protect each other from harm as she tries to do her part as well.

Verdict
Now you think I'd give this victory to Yukina because she didn't grow up with her brother. There needed to be much more development between Yukina and Hiei, which wasn't the central focus of Yu Yu Haksuho. In fact, both the relationships with Hiei & Yukina and Ichigo & Yuzu aren't tackled as much, but to be fair - Yuzu has more development than Yukina's character. You see Yukina's eagerness to know her brother whereas Yuzu had to fill in the shoes of their deceased mother. That puts a lot of responsibility on such a young and empathic child, you feel bad for her because that isn't how kids at that age usually act. Yukina at a young age was born from a Ice Apparition, never met her younger brother, and you don't really see much til her capture by Gonzo Tarukane. What happened during her time growing up? We never saw her journey and I think that she could've used more story whereas Yuzu had plenty to go on despite limited screen-time. With Yuzu, you see her go from a defenseless little sister to being a motherly, kind-natured girl who does both the house chores AND is a student. She rarely acts her own age + being a student on top of it all, that must take a toll on Yuzu. With Yukina, we didn't really see her growth as a person or her resolve in finding her brother - we just see her trying to put the piece together of who her brother is after meeting Yusuke's team. With Yuzu, we see her go from a carefree child to a loving, responsible, and caring sister - a transition that is most impressive and admirable. This victory goes to Yuzu for she has more to prove + endures so much despite her age. Sorry Yukina, but the clear victory goes to Yuzu.

I hope you enjoyed February's last Bleach Hakusho post. More to come in March. Bleach Hakusho posts all throughout March on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, & Sundays (unless specified). Yu Yu Hakusho is tied with Bleach 6-6 (I'm too lazy to list them all, haha). Until then, you stay classy now.

RBT #11 - Hagurotunbo (Lisa's Shikai)

A short 10 seconds that shows Lisa Yadomaru's, former 8th division lieutenant of then Captain of the 8th Division, Shunsui Kyoraku, shikai titled "Hagurotunbo" which translates to Iron Drink Dragonfly). Her shikai's Zanpaktou ability is unknown, but we do know that the Shikai command is Smash and activates when slamming her sword's scabbard to the hilt of her Zanpaktu and twirling it incredibly fast. Moral of the story - Don't F with Lisa.

Shishiwakamaru vs. Rojuro "Rose" Otoribashi (Battle of Tricks)

VS.

See these two pictures? They're two men who are not only known for their good looks, but have tricks up their sleeve when it comes to their abilities and attacks. In one you see a visible looking cloak and the other a golden whip w/a flowerlike tip. These two share the characteristic of having creative abilities - both have something up their sleeve. One is the supposed leader of the Demon Group, Team Uraotogi, and the other is the 3rd Captain of the Gotei 13. Today we will see the artistic characters in Bleach & Yu Yu Hakusho have their bout - Rose & Shishiwakamaru. The following will be compared - Role in Story, Character (Strength/Power), and Fights (wins & losses).

Role in Story (Shishiwakamaru)
Appearing in the Dark Tournament during the Semi-Finals, Team Urameshi fought Team Uraotogi consisting of Makintaro, Kuro Momotaro, Ura Urashima, Suzuki (Onji), and Shishiwakamaru himself. Shishiwakamaru sees himself as a celebrity and as such, wants fame, fortune, and praise all around. Shishiwakamaru, having favoritism from the demon ladies in the crowd, was highly anticipated to wipe out the competition with style. He had to eliminate Ura Urashima early on due to his inability to keep quiet about the weapons each member of Team Uraotogi possesses (all made by Suzuki). His first fight ended in an easy win (against Kuwabara), but his fight with Genkai ended terribly for him as he lost the Banshee Shriek and his pride. In the end Team Urameshi was victorious, but it wouldn't be until later where Shishiwakamaru and Suzuki ally themselves with Kurama to partake in the Demon Tournament held by Yusuke himself. It's safe to say that he, Suzuki, Rinku, Chu, Jin, & Toya are friends with Yusuke.

Role in Story (Rose Otoribashi)
Rose is the former Captain of the 3rd Division before taking in his position again after Aizen's defeat. Rose is friends with Love & Shinji, but is notable for having creative differences when it comes to Love Aikawa. Alongside Shinji, Love, Kensei, Hachigen, Hiyori, Mashiro, & Lisa, he becomes a Visored due to Aizen's twisted experimentation on Shinigami. He escapes persecution by hiding out in the real world where he eventually meets our hero, Ichigo. With everyone else, they help train and tame Ichigo's hollow so that he can be a Visored. The mastery of becoming a Visored took a toll on Ichigo, but the Visored managed to help contain Ichigo's sanity as well as gain an ally in the end. Rose appears way later in the series to assist Ichigo & the Gotei 13 in their war against Aizen's forces. Fighting alongside Love & Kyoraku, they fight against Starrk (which ended up in Kyoraku finishing him), but later would lose to Aizen. After Aizen's defeat, he rejoins the Gotei 13 as the 3rd Captain w/Kira and fights against the Vandenreich.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Shishiwakamaru
Shishiwakamaru is nothing without the gifts Suzuki had bestowed upon him - The Cape of No Return & the Banshee Shriek Sword. The Cape of No Return allows him to manipulate space when anyone comes in contact with the cloak. He took out Kuwabara early on (he then reappeared in the previous stadium). The Banshee Shriek allows the user to summon the souls of the dead to attack anyone, being able to fire projectiles and create a barriers. In his fight against Genkai, he notably used the Banshee shriek to create a cage to trap Genkai in, summoned souls from the dead to attack everyone, and creating a eerie sound by rapidly spinning his blade that steals weak souls. A bloodthirsty Demon, he has no technique and is irrational when it comes to facing defeat because of his overconfident bravado and appreciation to receive praise from the ladies. It wouldn't be until later where he is seen at a S-class Level alongside his other brethren in the Demon Tournament, but stood no chance against at being at the top again.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Rose Otoribashi
Being a captain of the Gotei 13, Rose has strong spiritual energy that is then amplified when putting on his Hollow mask. Rose is unique for his Zanpaktou abilities, Kinshara (Golden Sai Tree). Kinshara takes on the form of a golden whip with a flowerlike tip. Its special ability allows Kinshara to wrap around any opponent and, much like a piano, when Rose places his fingers on his Kinshara and it creates a reverberating sound wave that can destroy anything that it comes in contact with. Another one of its abilities is a wire appearing from Kinshara, wrapping around the intended target, and much again like playing the piano - the wire constricts his opponents. Rose also has a Bankai titled Kinshara Butodan (Golden Sai Tree Dancing Troupe) that creates what Rose calls "Dancers of Death." His Bankai's ability allows him to use music to create physical illusions such as having the "Dancers of Death" spin around an opponent to create a whirlpool or generating fire from thin air. Finally, much like all the Visored, his Hollow Mask allows him to have enhanced agility, durability, and strength.

Fights (Shishiwakamaru)
Shishiwakaru has had a few fights, but has a even record. His record is as follows:

1) Shishiwakamaru vs. Kuwabara - Win
2) Shishiwakamaru vs. Genkai - Loss
3) Shishiwakamaru vs. Suzuki (Training) - Unconfirmed
4) Shishiwakamaru vs. Turtle-like Demon - Win
5) Shishiwakamaru vs. Hokushin - Loss

Fights (Rose Otoribashi)
Rose has a even record. His record is as follows:

1) Rose vs. Kensei (Hollowfied) - Loss
2) Rose w/Visored vs. Ichigo (Hollowfied) - Win
3) Rose w/Love & Kyoraku vs. Starrk - Win
4) Rose vs. NaNaNa Najahkoop - Interrupted/Unconfirmed
5) Rose w/Kensei & Hisagi vs. Mask De Masculine - Loss

Verdict
And the winner is...
Rose's abilities truly are unique in every way. It was a pain to thoroughly go through what he is capable of, but pretty much music the theme to his powers. So intricate, but it does notable damage to his opponents and what makes it even more astonishing is that it's an illusion made from his music-themed powers. Shishiwakamaru, I believe, is pretty damn uninteresting and has too much bravado for his own good. He can't go by without Suzuki's gifts, but being at a S-class level is his only impressive feat. Even when in his full demonic form, which is pretty much a floating demon fairy, he has little offer. I will give props for Shishiwakamaru for utilizing Suzuki's gifts during the Dark & Demon Tournament, but compared to Rose, his tricks aren't good enough to suffice when it comes to illusions that Rose uses in his Bankai. Shishiwakamarus is dependent on Suzuki's weapons whereas Rose is not. When I meant they have tricks up their sleeves - it means they have a variety of attacks based on the weapons they use. Shishiwakamaru's Banshee Shriek can summon souls from the dead, create horrible sounds that take weak souls, and can create a cage - that's quite a lot of abilities that that sword can do. Rose's Zanpaktou is one-of-a-kind and though he lost quickly to Mask De Masculine, I still think he's a unique and interesting character. This victory goes to Rose, the multi-talented musical artist.

So who do you think won? Rose or Shishiwakamaru? Comment below on who you think won. Bleach Hakusho posts from February-end of March every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Sunday (unless specified). Until then, you all stay classy now. The following Bleach Hakusho posts are up:

4) Keiko Yukimura vs. Orihime Inoue (Victory - Yu Yu Hakusho)
5) Yoko Kurama vs. Uryu Ishida (Victory - Yu Yu Hakusho
6) Hiei vs. Sui-Feng (Victory - Yu Yu Hakusho
7) Jin vs. Kensei Muguruma (Victory - Yu Yu Hakusho)
8) Chu vs. Shunsui Kyoraku (Victory - Bleach
9) Minoru Kamiya vs. Mayuri Kurotsuchi (Victory - Bleach
10) Shinobu Sensui vs. Ginjo Kugo (Victory - Yu Yu Hakusho)

Yu Yu Hakusho currently leads 6-5 against Bleach.
WBCR below

WBCR - A blade wielded by fear can't save (Grade A-)

See this picture? It's Rukia's Bankai - Hakko No Togame (White Mist Punishment). From what I saw, it makes the entire field left in a large pillar of ice. However, this is just a guess since it wasn't elaborated on. I think it's quite a lovely, beautiful, and deadly Bankai that Byakuya can't help but praise her sister. So this week's chapter starts off with As Nodt being given a second chance by Yhwach. Upon pondering heaven or hell, he explicates that he truly is afraid of pain - the essence of his own power is derived from his own fear of death itself - plain and simple. And then this chapter decides to turn to two character we haven't seen in awhile - Isane and Yachiru, both whom are the respected lieutenants of both Kenpachi(s). Out of nowhere, a Stern Ritter with the letter "V" named Gwenhael, capable of vanishing from one's field of vision. At first we saw Yachiru punch him, but then Yachiru herself got punched in the face from Gwenhael's punch (Poor Yachiru). First off, I'm curious to know whether we get to see Yachiru's true power. Remember she's no walk in the park - she's a lieutenant level Shinigami. And secondly, will these two ladies be enough to handle this Stern Ritter? We've only seen Isane fight once against Ichigo and get punched in the gut, but that's it. She is proficient in her usage of Kido and medical skills since she is part of the 4th division. Overall, I like this week's chapter because it showcases Rukia's Bankai, As Nodt's perception of life overall (an outlook on the lives before being gained power by Yhwach), and the start of perhaps Yachiru's Shikai release? I'm going to give this week's chapter a Grade A-. I want to see Yachiru fight for once and know who Rukia & Byakuya will fight next. I hope you enjoyed this week's WBCR and until then, you all stay classy now. The Bleach Hakusho post for today will be posted between 10:00-10:30am.

Affinity #27 - You're Kenny's #1 Fan! (Ichigo & Yachiru)

One of Ichigo's very first obstacles upon entering the Soul Society as a Ryoka was fending off against various Shinigami. One such opponent was Kenpachi Zaraki, Captain of the 11th Division. This epic fight would conclude in a draw, but Kenpachi Zaraki, admitting Ichigo was a worthy opponent, gave Ichigo the victory despite Ichigo falling down first. Yachiru, Kenpachi's lieutenant, bows before Ichigo before departing with Kenpachi, a sign of respect and admiration for the Ryoka. Yachiru is the most playful and childish Shinigami, but looks are to be deceiving as shown when she got pissed when interrupted by a messenger. She is already fond of Ichigo because Kenpachi took a keen interest in Ichigo's power and resolve. Ichigo doesn't really that much about Yachiru other than the fact that she's the lieutenant of the 11th Division. You can say that Ichigo & The 11th Division have their respects and admiration for one another - both fought equally and as a result - they look up to one another and hope either don't get killed by someone stronger. Yachiru genuinely cares for Kenpachi and Ichigo's safety and hopes they one day fight again because they're her two favorite people (she likes teasing others). Yachiru sees Ichigo as a friend because if Kenny likes them (Yachiru's nickname for him), then Yachiru likes them. It's all about admiration and respect when it comes to Ichigo & Yachiru.

Shinobu Sensui vs. Ginjo Kugo (The Predecessors)

VS.

What makes this matchup a special one is their similarity in character - both diabolical, are leaders of their respective groups, have something against the protagonist, and to top it all off - they were the former occupations of our protagonists. Before Ichigo became a Shinigami and even before Yusuke was hired as a Spirit Detective, Shinobu was the Spirit Detective before him and Ginjo Kugo is the very 1st Substitute Shinigami. Both pose a true threat to our hero, but it's kind of ironic since these two were originally good guys. So Monday's Fight Night post, I will be comparing Yu Yu Hakusho's Shinobu Sensui, leader of the Sensui Seven, and Bleach's Ginjo Kugo, leader of the Xcution. The following will be included: Role in Story, Character (Strength/Power), & Fights (wins & losses)

Role in Story (Shinobu Sensui)
Shinobu Sensui is the former Spirit Detective before Yusuke and is the major antagonist of the Chapter Black Saga. Koenma took an interest in Shinobu's sense of justice and his talents in eliminating demons. However, his interest in slaying demons soon plundered as he saw the Black Black Club torture demons for their own amusement. Twisted by this sight, something inside Shinbou snapped and thus his hatred for mankind has surfaced. As leader of the Shinobu Seven, he, and his team are bent on bringing misery to the human world; a plan that Sakyo, a former member of the Black Black club, wanted to come true. Shinobu's also developed dissociative identity disorder, creating 7 distinct personalities from Shinobu whereas his original personality stays pure. He, alongside the Sensui Seven, become enemies of Team Urameshi as they clash in hopes to either save humanity....or allow it to be taken over by the Demons.

Role in Story (Ginjo Kugo)
Ginjo Kugo is the very 1st Substitute Shinigami before Ichigo. It is unclear on how he gained Shinigami powers, but Jushiro Ukitake, Captain of the 13th division, gave Ginjo the Shinigami representative badge. However, upon discovering that he was being spied on by the Soul Society, he thought he was betrayed and disappeared without a trace. Sometime before he disappeared, he met Tsukishima and eventually the rest of what would essentially be - The Xcution. Ginjo enlists Ichigo as a Fullbringer and introduced him to the members of the Xcution - Tsukishima, Giriko, Riruka, Jackie, Yukio, Chad (associate), and Moe (associate). With the influence of Tsukishima's power, the members of the Xcution would make Tsukishima look like the villain in order to bait out Ichigo in hopes to steal his power and make it their own.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Shinobu Sensui
Shinobu is an incredibly strong human, having 10x more spiritual energy that Yusuke. What makes Shinobu a formidable opponent is his Sacred energy (being that of S-class Demon level) - purest and most-powerful kind of energy (Koenma states it is the echelon of power) that takes 40 years of discipline to master. The difference in power, at first, with Yusuke was clear - Shinobu was stronger than Yusuke. Shinobu practices a fighting style known as Resshuken, renowned for fast footwork. With this, he utilizes his fast footwork + his spiritual/sacred energy - has a variety of attacks - Resshu Ko Kyu Ha (Fissure Kick Crimson Ball Wave), Splinter Resshuken, Offensive & Defensive armor (w/his Sacred Energy), Twisted Twister, and Energy gun (when in Kazuya's personality). His powers alone were enough to subdue Kuwabara, Hiei (with the Black Dragon), & Kurama (in Demon Form).

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Ginjo Kugo
Ginjo Kugo is a master swordsman (when fighting Tsukishima) and has enhanced speed (when fighting Ichigo). What sets Ginjo apart is his ability - Fullbring. The name of this Fullbring he possesses is titled Cross of Scaffold, a huge ass double-edged form of a longsword simply transformed from a pendant he wears. When swinging this blade, a light of energy bursts out and hits whatever it comes into contact with. The power itself becomes amplified when combined with the Shinigami Representative badge, but has some changes - absorption, ability replication (used Getsuga Tensho), armor, and partial control of Yukio's Fullbring abilities. And to top it off, he has a Bankai that was sorta able to hand its own against Ichigo, who has just regained his Shinigami powers thanks to the efforts of everyone in the Soul Society that contributed.

Fights (Shinobu Sensui)
Shinobu is the major antagonist of the Chapter Black Saga, meaning he poses a true threat to Yusuke and the others for his diabolical plans to allow Demons to go about in the Human World. His record is as follows:

Shinobu vs. Yusuke (Part 1) - Win
Shinobu vs. Hiei, Kurama, & Kuwabara - Win
Shinobu vs. Yusuke (Part 2 w/Raizen's assistance) - Loss

Fights (Ginjo Kugo)
Since Ginjo Kugo is the antagonist of the Fullbringer arc, he poses a true threat to both Ichigo and his allies - having plans to ruin Ichigo. His plan was stealing Ichigo's powers and making it his own. His record is as follows.

Ginjo w/Tsukishima (as bait) vs. Uryu - Win
Ginjo vs. Tsukishima (under orders from Ginjo) - Interrupted
Ginjo vs. Moe - Interrupted
Ginjo vs. Ichigo - Loss

Verdict
And the winner is...
Shinobu, being a major antagonist after Yusuke fought Toguro, is stronger than all of Yusuke's previous enemies. Being able to stand toe-to-toe with Kuwabara & Hiei & Kurama in their strongest is saying a lot considering he is a human. With his Resshuken and Sacred Energy, he is a S-class level. I personally felt tragedy from Shinobu's character because of the Black Black Club messing with his sense of justice. His direction of right and wrong has become disoriented and upon seeing Humans cruelty towards Demons, its only fitting that he'd be naturally scarred. The very people he fights for had betrayed him and it showcases the injustice and prejudices Humans have against Demons, treating them like slaves. Ginjo's character had little to offer since his backstory wasn't thoroughly introduced. To top it off - he stood no chance against Ichigo in Bankai form and lost way way way way too quickly. Compared to Ichigo's other opponents, they stood more of a chance and proved to be more of a threat. But Ginjo lost like 1-2-3, you're out. Ginjo has some interesting abilities, but didn't utilize them all as it felt like his character was water-downed for his appearance in the Vandereich war (if you see in the Vandenreich arc, you see Ginjo alongside Giriko & Tsukishima w/Ganju getting ready to train). Maybe his purpose in the Fullbringer are wasn't to showcase him 100%, but to fully utilize him in the current Arc. Who knows, but I do know this - Shinobu's Sacred Energy + Fighting Style + 7 personalities = a badass villain who was able to stand on par with Team Urameshi before losing to Yusuke (w/the Mazoku activated). Ginjo is a weak villain who just wanted Ichigo's power for his own, but he got them back thanks to Rukia imbedding a blade through him (much like the very beginning where Rukia gave her powers to Ichigo), so then - what was the point then of that? This victory goes to Shinobu because he offers more in variety, had a tragic history, and is one Yu Yu Hakusho's strongest enemies.

So who do you think won - Shinobu or Ginjo? Let me know your thoughts below by leaving a comment. I hope you enjoyed today's Bleach Hakusho post. EARLY RELEASE - Minoru Kamiya vs. Mayuri Kurotsuchi (The Mad Geniuses)

VS.

Welcome to a special EARLY release of Bleach Hakusho. This was supposed to be released tomorrow, but since I will be out all day tomorrow, might as well post it today than neglect posting it. On a side note, There will be no Throwback this week. Anyways, this matchup is with the geniuses - the madmen who are capable of instilling fear through their manipulative and sadistic nature + their way of tweaking their bodies when inflicted damage upon. One is Captain of the 12 Division and the other is a member of Sensui Seven. One is a Doctor and the other a Scientist. This matchup is between Bleach's Mayuri Kurotsuchi and Yu Yu Hakusho's Minoru Kamiya (The Doctor). So who shall reign victory in this battle - medical or scientific? I will be comparing the following: Role in story, Character (Strength/Power), and Fights (wins & losses).

Role in Story (Minoru Kamiya)
The Sensui Seven were all manipulated by the Chapter Black video footage and as a result, their hatred for mankind surfaced as they began to assist in the entrance of demons into the human World. Minoru's hatred and sadistic nature towards humans showcases that he, alongside the other members of The Senui Seven, is willing to endanger human lives for the plan to succeed. A killer, he prefers to do more harm than good despite being a doctor. Introduced in the Chapter Black Saga, Minoru was Yusuke's opponent in the Hospital. To ensure that his identity wasn't tarnished, he disguised himself and did whatever it took to silence anyone. After his defeat, he goes into hiding, changes his face, and decides to use his medical skills to ironically save human lives.

Role in Story (Mayuri Kurotsuchi)
Mayuri was introduced as a prisoner in the Maggot's Nest before Kisuke and Hiyori went and bailed him out of his holding cell. A researcher and modifier, Mayuri, alongside Kisuke Urahara, reinvented, re-imagined, and reshaped the Research and Development Division (aka the 12th Division). Soon after Kisuke and Hiyori's banishment from the Soul Society, Mayuri took control. Mayuri did a number of experiments on whatever he can gets his hands on, notably Soken Ishida, Uryu's grandfather. This led to Mayuri's first confrontation when the Ryoka invaded (Ichigo, Orihime, Uryu, Chad, & Ganju). Mayuri and Uryu fought (where he lost), but it would be later where the Soul Society would help out in the endeavors of Ichigo's fight against Aizen & Yhwach's forces.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Minoru Kamiya
Minoru is the most damaged after having watched the Chapter Black footage. He went from being a doctor that is supposed to help people to a insane killer bent on creating havoc for the Human World. He retains a medical knowledge of the human body and thus, is able to paralyze opponents (EX: Kido). What makes him an interesting character is despite being a doctor and having knowledge on the human body - he is also able to manipulate body chemicals. In the right terrain, he is able to create a disease that injected people with a virus - capable of killing them. He is also able to make his fingers into a energy scalpel - slicing through body parts and being able to stitch himself back together. This doctor is someone you don't want to f*ck with.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Mayuri Kurotsuchi
An innovative captain, Mayuri has plenty of tricks up his sleeves. He has created drugs (both antidotes and lethal substances), sensors/monitors, can repair just about anything, traps (EX: a landmine Uryu used), and is adept in chemistry and strategy. What makes Mayuri a scary person to confront is his ability to discern an opponent and instilling fear just by analyzing them thoroughly. His Zanpaktou, Ashisogi Jizo, is capable of severing brain signals from the neural impulses and its Bankai form produces a poisonous gas that is lethal when inhaled. Out of all the Captains in the Gotei 13, Mayui is the most creepiest one of all and you can't really tell if he's ready to be your ally or your friend. As a Captain, he is neither enemy nor friend - but a madman.

Fights (Minoru Kamiya)
Minoru has only 1 fight. As a pawn, he caused a lot of harm to the patients in the hospital. His record is as followed:

Minoru vs. Yusuke w/allies - Loss

Fights (Mayuri Kurotsuchi)
Mayuri has had a fair share of fights. He's only lost 1 battle, but has improve himself over time. His record is as followed:

Mayuri vs. Uryu - Loss
Mayuri vs. Sawatari - Win (Filler)
Mayuri vs. Szayelaporro - Win
Mayuri vs. Inaba & Reigai-Komamura - Unconfirmed/Interrupted

Verdict
And the winner is...
Mayuri, as a scientist, has offered more when it comes to abilities, fights, and intellect. Minoru's concept isn't diabolical whereas Mayuri himself acts diabolical. The concept of madness differs when it comes to these two - one got influenced and the other genuinely is. That is why despite Minoru's impressive feats as a unique human, he was just a pawn of the Sensui Seven. His abilities are unique, but offered little to no variety whereas Mayuri had plenty of tricks up his sleeve and way too many to name. Mayuri clearly is the definitive winner and, though Minoru's screen-time is limited, Mayuri's character is more fleshed out and the thing with Mayuri is one word - unpredictable. You can't tell if he's a good guy bent on defecting or a bad guy siding for a greater cause, it's quite a mystery. That is why I find Mayuri a more compelling character.

Chu vs. Shunsui Kyoraku (The Drunk Fighters)

VS.

I do apologize for posting late. If something comes up, I will do my absolutest best to inform you. If not, it will be posted as soon as I have the time. Anyways, on both Bleach & Yu Yu Hakusho, there are two respective fighters, but are also notable as being womanizers and drinkers. One is Captain of the 1st Division in the Soul Society and the other is Leader of Team Rokuyukai (former). Both are calm and collected men who, despite their looks, aren't to be underestimated. Today I will be comparing the Drunk Fighter's Role in story, Character (Strength/Power), and Fights (wins & losses).

Role in Story (Chu)
Chu was the alternative in Team Rokuyukai during the Dark Tournament. Zeru, the supposed leader of Team Rokuyukai, was Chu's backup, but later Chu would stumble later and takeover where his team had failed. He and Yusuke, the team leaders, would eventually fight and soon after - they became frenemies despite Chu's loss. Chu, alongside Rinku, Jin, Toya, Shishiwakamaru, and Suzuki, would partake in the Demon Tournament where fate would decide the ruler of all Demon World.

Role in Story (Kyoraku)
Where do I begin with this guy. He, alongside Jushiro Ukitake of the 13th Division, became the first captains under General Yamamoto's creation of the Gotei 13. Both are gifted Shinigami w/duel-wielding Zanpakotu. Kyoraku is the laid-back, womanizing drunkard who has garnered both respect and ridicule (because of his carefree nature). Upon Ichigo's rescuing of Rukia, Kyoraku & Ukitake aided the Ryoka and soon after, would partake in an ongoing battle between Aizen's forces, the Arrancars, and Yhwach's forces, the Stern Ritter. It wouldn't be long before his division is promoted to be the 1st Division after Captain Yamamoto's death by Yhwach.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Chu
Chu practices a martial art style known as Drunken Fist, being highly unpredictable when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. He managed to land 5 direct punches to Yusuke without anyone else (other than Hiei) noticing that he had done so. Chu's other special ability is when consuming Ogre Killer, his demon energy + the alcohol are amplified to the point where he can generate a energy blast equivalent to Yusuke's spirit gun, but bigger, larger, and more deadly. What makes Chu an interesting fella is his Knife Edge Death Match, a fist fight between two knives and you can't step outside the knives perimeter. His power is most amplified when consuming alcohol + mixing it together to form a formidable amount of demon energy.

Character (Strength/Power) ~ Kyoraku
Kyoraku is highly skilled in Shunpo, being agile in just a few short steps. Being a Captain Level, he is by far one of the strongest and oldest living Captains and his promotion from 8th Captain to 1st after General Yamamoto's unfortunate death at the hands of Yhwach. His Zanpaktou is labeled Katen Kyokotsu, which is able to make rules and set boundaries based on "making children's games real." One such attack is like a spinning top, a color game, and a game based on stepping on shadows. His abilities are unique and add flavor when it comes to making children's games real. And the scary part about his abilities is that this is just his Shikai, not his Banaki. Ukitake comments that Kyoraku's Bankai would be a bad idea to release if people were around to see it, meaning it is both formidable and not to be underestimated.

Fights (Chu)
Chu has had few matches. Though he lost them all (with the training and flashback being exceptions), he has gotten stronger over time. His record follows:

Chu vs. Yusuke (Loss)
Chu w/Rinku vs. Demon Thugs (flashback) (Win)
Chu vs. Jin (Training) (Unconfirmed)
Chu vs. Natsume (Loss)

Fights (Kyoraku)
Kyoraku has a fair share of fights. Some were interrupted, but he remains at the top of his game. His record follows:

Kyoraku vs. Chad (Win)
Kyoraku w/Ukitake vs. Captain Yamamoto (Interrupted)
Kyoraku vs. Starrk (Win)
Kyoraku w/allies vs. Aizen (Loss)
Kyoraku vs. a Toju (Win)
Kyoraku vs. Unnamed Sternritter (Unconfirmed/Interrupted)
Kyoraku vs. Sojiro Kusaka (MOVIE) (Loss)

Verdict
And the winner is...
I think that his promotion to 1st Division Captain of the entire Gotei 13 is quite a feat. He not only has to showcase his true leadership abilities, but now has to fill in the void that his teacher, mentor, and friend had left behind. The mantle of responsibility this man has to bear now carries a heavy burden on this womanizing drunkard's shoulders. Despite Chu's impressive Demon energy and his amplifier being Alcohol, he offers little to the table + he forfeited his last battle over some cute girl. They're both womanizing drunkards, but when it comes to responsibility and fights - Kyoraku's fights were more impressive and the fearsome part of it all is that that isn't even the full extent of his power. It is a mere fraction of what he is capable of and, to be honest, Kyoraku could just as easily have dealt with Chu like Chad, but perhaps Chu would put up a little bit more than Chad. I like Chu, but Kyoraku clearly wins this battle.

So who do you think won? Captain Shunsui Kyoraku or Chu? Please feel free to leave comment below on who you think should've won. Until then, look forward for more Bleach Hakusho posts every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Sunday between February-end of March. The following Bleach Hakusho posts are up:

RBT #10 - In the face!

Kon, one of the comic relief characters in Bleach, is a big big BIG fan of Rukia Kuchiki, referring to her as Nee-san. Of course, however, Rukia kicked him in the face because, you know, Kon is a pervert among perverts. After not having seen Rukia in a long time, Kon cries and lunges himself towards Rukia -  only to get kicked and stepped on. Poor poor Kon (Who am I kidding, Kon deserved to get kicked in the face, haha)

Jin vs. Kensei Muguruma (The Wind Conjurers)

VS.

The Conjurers of Wind are two completely different characters and, though they don't play much of a pivotal role in the story, they are renowned fighters known for their utilization of wind-based attacks. One is a Demon fighter and the other is Captain of the 9th Division. Though I admit this matchup seems unlikely, I am emphasizing the theme of their power - wind. Both are strong in their own right and are allies with our main protagonist, but Jin is more attached to Yusuke than Kensei is with Ichigo. Some of the Matchup(s) will seem odd at first, but remember - I have reasons for comparing characters. It can range from having similar backstories, attitudes, and, of course powers. Both have had their fair share of fights, but who truly is the master of the wind element? Today it is a matchup of  Yu Yu Hakushio's Jin & Bleach's Kensei Muguruma. I will be comparing the following: Role in Story, Strength/Power, & Fights (record)

Role in Story (Jin)
In the Dark Tournament Saga, Team Urameshi (Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei, & Genkai) fought Team Masho, renowned Shinobi from the Demon World (Risho, Toya, Gama, Bakken, & Jin himself). In the 4th Fight, Jin & Yusuke have their anticipated matchup and, much to the surprise of Yusuke's friends, ended in a tie (double loss) due to the corruption of the Dark Tournament Committee. Later on alongside Toya, Shishiwakamaru, Suzuki, Chu, and Rinku ally with Kurama, who has allied himself with one of the renowned Demons - Yomi. However, upon Yusuke's request for a Demon Tournament to determine the ruler of Demon World, Jin partakes in this tournament alongside his friends. He remains in Demon World, awaiting the next tournament - getting stronger than ever.

Role in Story (Kensei)
Kensei Mugurama, alongside the other Visored, were introduced as soon as Aizen's defection (in the Anime, the Bount Arc follows after, but in the manga - it resumes). Kensei and the Visored helped trained Ichigo to harness and control his Hollow powers, hoping to recruit Ichigo as a Visored. It wouldn't be until later where we find out that the Visored were all previous Shinigami Captains and/or Lieutenants. Kensei & Mashiro were the Captain & Lieutenant of the 9th division, but were attacked by Aizen, Gin, & Kaname. Kensei (If I recall) is the very 1st Visored to be experimented on and eventually they all hid in the Human World to escape persecution. Kensei later would partake in the war between the Shinigami & Arrancar, but it is unconfirmed whether or not he lost to Wonderweiss.

Strength/Power (Jin)
Jin is capable of manipulating wind through flight, creating tornadoes, and for shields. The flaw, however, with his power is that the speeds of his own wind are determined by his own accord and CANNOT exceed the actual speed of wind itself. With this, he is capable of flight, having control of the skies. Another interesting power of his is creating tornados from moving his arms in a circular motion at great speeds - creating devastating effects when inflicting damage on his opponents. He can do this with both of his arms and, shown later, an element of electricity is mixed in with the tornadoes he's made. Aside from that, he can also create a wind barrier capable of distracting his opponents or for protection from attacks.

Strength/Power (Kensei)
Kensei is a Captain-level Shinigami, capable of using both Shikai & Bankai. His Shikai, Tachikaze, is capable of manipulating wind & energy. He demonstrates with by creating air blades & creating a bomb from his energy, capable of blowing up Menos Grande. In his Bankai form, however, all the wind is dispersed and he has two giant knuckles blades that create explosive results when inflicting damage on anyone or anything so long as the knuckles are impacting what is being hit. Apart from his Shikai & Bankai, what makes Kensei formidable is the fact that he has a hollow mask, A Visored's power, speed, and durability are amplified.

Fights (Jin) - S-Rank Demon Level
Jin has lost all of his battles, but has done significant damage to his opponents and has gotten stronger. His record consists of 3 fights:

Jin vs. Yusuke - Tie
Jin vs. Chu (Training) - Unconfirmed?
Jin vs. Souketsu - Loss

Fights (Kensei) - Captain-class Level
Kensei has a even record. His record consists of 3 fights:

Kensei w/Visored vs. Hollowfied Ichigo (Training) - Win
Kensei vs. Wonderweiss Margela - Unconfirmed?
Kensei vs. Mask De Masculine - Loss

Verdict
And the winner is...
To be honest, Jin offered more in variety - flight, tornadoes (offense), barriers (defense), and harnesses electricity. Kensei has little to offer, going from wind-based attacks to pure offense hand-to-hand maneuvers. The main deciding point would have to be - offensive vs. defensive. Kensei is more of a offensive fighter, but Jin can be both. Jin is seen more as a defensive fighter because he tries to confused his opponents by combining his flight, agility, and, when possible, inflicting damage from just about every direction. Even if Kensei has his Visored mask on, he is limited. He is stronger with his mask on than he is without it. Jin has rigorously trained and is on par with S-class Demons whereas Kensei will always remain the same. And that is why I think Jin would beat Kensei, Captain or Visored.

I hope you enjoyed this week's 7th Bleach Hakusho post. The following are up:

2) Kuwabara vs. Chad (Victory - Kuwabara)
3) Genkai vs. Urahara (Victory - Urahara)
4) Keiko vs. Orihime (Victory - Keiko)
5) Kurama vs. Uryu (Victory - Kurama)
6) Hiei vs. Sui-Feng (Victory - Hiei)

WBCR - Hakko No Togame (Grade A-)

Did I hear that right - I must be dreaming, right? Our very own Rukia Kuchiki has achieved Bankai.....bound to happen eventually. But the name of her Bankai, Hakka No Togame, just sounds so badass. Once again Rukia showcases that she is a forced to be reckoned with and all she needed was a boost from her Nii-sama. Both the Kuchiki siblings undergone rigorous and meticulous training during their absence and it clearly shows - they aren't going done without a fight. The chapter can be summed up pretty easily like this - Byakuya shows up, reassures Rukia to not be afraid, and BOOM - Bankai time. Like what I did there, pretty damn short of a synopsis, but hey - that's what this chapter is all about. It wasn't about Byakuya showing off what he is capable of, but rather implementing the idea that Rukia has to step her game up, not fear the enemy, and that the fear reflected in As Nodt's face is indeed the manifestation of his own fear. Rukia, with Nii-Sama's reassurance, released her Bankai and large pillar of white dawns over the battlefield. I like this chapter because it is emphasizing that Rukia isn't no pushover and that her abilities have excelled, garnering the attention of her brother's praise of her abilities. Byakuya may steal the show, but he wants to give the benefit of the doubt to Rukia herself - who needs to put good use to her training. I would've liked to see more, but then again - it is still yet unknown what Rukia's Bankai can really do AND if As Nodt is really dead. I'm going to give this week's chapter a A-, I'm looking forward to seeing more of Rukia. As always, look forward to WBCR(s) every Wednesday (unless specified) and Bleach Hakusho posts every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, & Sunday from February-end of March. Stay classy Bleach fans. The 7th Bleach Hakusho post will be up later.

Affinity #26 - The Former 8th Division (Kyoraku, Nanao, & Lisa)

Long before Nanao was lieutenant under Captain Kyoraku Shunsui, she was a child who enjoyed the company of then-Lieutenant Lisa Yadomaru. Ever since Lisa's transformation into a Visored, she, along with Shinji, Kensei, Mashiro, Hachigen, Rose, Love, & Hiyori, have disappeared from the Soul Society up until Aizen's ascension into power. Captain Kyoraku, despite being a womanizer and a drunk, is serious when he needs to be as seen in this brief clip - The Captain reassuring Lisa that she's on an important job and that she'll be just fine, little did he know of the opponent the Shinigami were facing. The 8th Division's lieutenant has always been a woman with glasses (Lisa & Nanao look like sisters) w/firm responsibility and always upholding the duties when their captain (Kyoraku) is drunk or off womanizing. Nanao would be promoted to Lieutenant of the 1st Division alongside Captain Kyoraku (now Head Captain of the 1st Divison) & Genshiro Okikiba in the battle against the Vandenreich whereas Lisa is off fixing the distortion between the Human World & the Soul Society.

Hiei vs. Sui-Feng (Dragons & Hornets)

VS.

Welcome to the 6th Bleach Hakusho matchup between Bleach's 2nd Division Stealth Force Captain Sui-Feng and the returning Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho. Previously, I matched up Byakuya vs. Hiei, but I felt that I could matchup Hiei with another person - someone who excels in agility, has unique abilities, and have had tragic backstories. One is a Shinigami and the other a Demon. One serves under someone and the other is a Captain. This matchup I found captivating not just because I personally find them to be somewhat similar, but that this would be the 2nd time I incorporate Hiei in a Bleach Hakusho matchup. Who knows, maybe Bleach Hakusho 2 (in the near future - hint hint) will have morematchups with Hiei and, perhaps, Uryu or Ulquiorra. For now, I will be comparing the following: Backstory, Strength/Power, & Fights (Record of wins & losses).

Backstory (Hiei)
I went over Hiei's backstory when I matched him up with Byakuya, but as a refresher, I'll explain once more. Hiei is considered a cursed "fire demon" Child and and as result, was cast away forever under orders from the Ice Maidens. Hina was Hiei's mother, but later would take her own life because of her son's demise and abandonment at a such a tender and young age. Ree, Hina's friend, was forced to do the unthinkable - drop Hiei, the fire demon child, from a cliff. From there, he had to endure demons of all calibers, being adopted by bandits and eventually venturing forth for power and revenge for his banishment from his home. As soon as Shigure, the surgeon and friend of Hiei, implanted him with the Jagan eye, Hiei strove to look for the very people who cursed him. It wouldn't be long before he realized they were already dead, met Ree, and soon discovered that he has a sister. From then on, he strove to find an protect his sister, but along the way - he met Kurama and eventually allied with the Spirit Detective, Yusuke Urameshi on his endeavors against various demons of all classes.

Backstory (Sui-Feng)
Sui-Feng is born into the Feng house, a lower class noble family that is affiliated with the Shihoin household. She, at a tender young age, is sworn to protect Yoruichi Shihoin, Captain of the 2nd division & Stealth forces. Her admiration for Yoruichi is unrivaled and it wouldn't be long before she disappeared alongside Kisuke Urahara, Tessai, & the Visored (Captains/Lieutenants of the 5th, 7th, 8th, & 9th divisions). Sui-Feng was unaware of why her mentor had abandoned her, but felt betrayed and a deep hatred resurfaced from Sui-Feng's heart. She devoted her life to becoming stronger than Yoruichi and hopes to end her because of the betrayal and wound she had left on Sui-Feng at a young age. It wouldn't be until later where she became the 2nd Division Captain and was in charge of the Stealth forces - the little girl who served under the 2nd Division now has become the Captain. Later on, Sui-Feng & Yoruichi would reunite and she would uncover the truth - her admiration and love for Yoruichi was simply too strong for Sui-Feng to overcome. Eventually, Sui-Feng took part in aiding Yoruich in fighting off the Arrancars led by Aizen Sousuke. Her siding with Yoruichi is partly due to Yoruichi's friendship to our main hero, Ichigo Kurosaki.

Strength/Power (Hiei)
What makes Hiei such a compelling character isn't just his backstory, but his powers as well. He has the Jagan Eye, capable of telekinesis, memory manipulation, and telepathy. A renowned swordsman, Hiei is unrivaled when it comes to his agility and notably, harnessing the power of the Dragon. During his fight with Zeru, he summoned the Dragon of the Darkness Flame technique and pretty much did a # on Zeru, leaving only a outline behind. Not only that, but he managed to consume the Dragon during his confrontation with Team Toguro's Bui. Hiei relentless training has made him go from wielder of the dragon to becoming the dragon itself. Hiei is also capable of harnessing fire and has combined the Dragon & Fire when fighting Kuro Momotaro. Hiei truly is a force to be reckoned with, being able to stand on par with the strongest fighters in Demon World.

Strength/Power (Sui-Feng)
Sui-Feng has relentlessly trained and tired herself out in hopes to one day surpass her former Captain, Yoruichi Shihoin. Her Zanpaktou, Suzumebachi (translated as Hornet), allows her to pierce opponents, leaving a mark, and when pierced in the same spot as the mark, completely eliminates anyone. The 2-step kill makes it hard for opponents to discern where Sui-Feng will strike and, if marked, will find it difficult to comprehend when she'll strike. Sui-Feng, when fighting Ggio, used this technique and, despite Ggio being a larger opponent, Sui-Feng still did him away with Suzumebachi. Not only is her Suzumebachi strong and fatal, but she has a Bankai - Jakuho Raikoben, which pretty much limits her agility and focuses on eliminating the opponent - firing a missile pretty much, an explosive and fatal attack. Apart from her agility and her Zanpaktou, she has recently mastered Shunko, which is a combination of hand-to-hand combat & Kido. Sui-Feng may be able to finish her opponent quickly, but it's the ability to do in 2-steps that makes her a formidable opponent

Fights (Hiei)
Hiei has a fair balance of wins and losses. His record as followed:

Hiei vs. Yusuke (Loss)
Hiei vs. Seiryu (Win)
Hiei vs. Kuro Momotaro (Win)
Hiei vs. Bui (Win)
Hiei vs. Sniper (Win)
Hiei w/Kurama & Kuwabara vs. Shinobu Sensui (Loss)
Hiei vs. Shigure (Win)
Hiei vs. Mukuro (Loss)

Fights (Sui-Feng)
Sui-Feng has a fair balance of wins, losses, and one undecided battle ~ some are canon and other filler. Her record as followed:

Sui-Feng vs. Yoruichi (Loss)
Sui-Feng vs. Mabashi (Filler - Win)
Sui-Feng vs. Rukia (Filler - Interrupted - Undecided)
Sui-Feng vs. Ggio Vega (Win)
Sui-Feng w/Hachigen vs. Baraggan Louisenbairn (Win)
Sui-Feng w/Allies vs. Aizen (Loss)
Sui-Feng vs. Suzumebachi (Filler - Win)
Sui-Feng vs. Regai-Kenpachi (Filler - Loss)
Sui-Feng vs. BG9 (Win)

Verdict
And the winner is...
Coincidentally, I am using the same picture of Hiei when I paired him with Byakuya. I found Hiei's backstory to be more tragic than Sui-Feng and honestly, his growth over time is developed more than Sui-Feng. His powers are tested, but as each enemy he fights gets stronger, so does he. Sui-Feng's fights I found were uninteresting and unfair because, to be honest, the other fights going on at the time were more interesting. It was cool to see Sui-Feng team up with Hachigen to kill Baraggan, but that's her only impressive victory. Others were notably fillers and, despite her awesome Zanpaktou abilities, it doesn't offer much variety. I found Sui-Feng's Bankai to be laughable because it is so out of character and it may be the Author's approach on her, but I was unconvinced that it did any good other than making her Bankai a missile launcher. Hiei offered more to the table and with the Dragon, he showcased that he can control and muster up the Dragon at his dispense. Hiei's development with his comrades also shows him going from a rogue demon to a ally/rival to Yusuke Urameshi, being one of the 4 main characters in Yu Yu Hakusho whereas Sui-Feng is a side character. Hiei motives are, to be fair, mature and have a reason - he was banished, had to figure out who and what he is capable of, and to top it off - he was content and at peace in the end because he knew Yukina, his sister, was safe. Sui-Feng's backstory I found, well, childish, but it can be argued it is a betrayal of her entire world. Hiei didn't focus on making anything his entire world - his world was his playground, his battle, and his affiliations with humans and demons. Sui-Feng's world was solely focused and revolving around Yoruichi - a pretty damn fine woman with impressive feats, but that's it (Sui-Feng clearly has shown she loves Yoruichi more than just a mentor and Captain). Hiei clearly is the victor and, bias aside, Dragons can devour Hornets (I had to, I just had to, Lol).

Well I hope you enjoyed Monday's 6th Bleach Hakusho post. The following are up now:

1) Hiei vs. Byakuya (Victory - Byakuya)
2) Kuwabara vs. Chad (Victory - Kuwabara)
3) Genkai vs. Urahara (Victory - Urahara)

5) Kurama vs. Uryu (Victory - Kurama)

Yoko Kurama vs. Uryu Ishida (The Calculating Tacticians)

VS.

One of the anticipated Matchup(s) in February would have to be between Yu Yu Hakusho's very own Yoko Kurama and Bleach's Uryu Ishida. Calculating and innovative, these two are what you the polar opposites of our protagonists, Ichigo & Yusuke. Whereas they are both hotheads, Kurama and Uryu try and remain calm, analyzing their opponents strengths and weaknesses. One wields a whip and the other a bow, but what makes these two unique is their species, they aren't by any means human. Today I will be comparing the following: Character History, Strength/Power, and Relationship to Protagonist. Let us begin this badass matchup.

Character History (Yoko Kurama)
Long before Kurama was named Shuichi and met the Spirit Detective Yusuke Urameshi, he was the leader of a group of bandits. A renowned demon, Kurama power is fear amongst the demons as he is regarded as a legend. However, to escape persecution from Spirit World's security, he placed his soul in the unborn child of Shiori Minamino and for 14 long years, learned about love, compassion, understanding, and what it means to have morals and values apart from his previous life. At first, Kurama was using his human mother as a host, but soon grew attached to her and she became the single most important person in Kurama's life. It was a 2nd chance for Kurama, but also made his escape possible. It wouldn't be long before his mother turns ills and he had no other choice but to team up with other demons (Hiei & Goki) in order to save his human mother. From then on, he met our hero, Yusuke, and Kurama has sworn to befriend the Spirit Detective for his compassion and in saving his mother's life - once strangers now become best of friends, for better or for worse. And soon after, Kurama joins Yusuke alongside Hiei, Kuwabara, & Genkai in facing off various demons.

Character History (Uryu Ishida)
Uryu Ishida is/was considered the title "The Last Quincy" for being a rare breed, an enemy of the Shinigami. This dates back to his father, who had a fond loathing of Shinigami (EX: Isshin) as well as his Grandfather, Soken, who was killed by hollows and dissected by Mayuri Kurotsuchi because the reinforcements from the Shinigami came too later (under orders from Mayuri). Since then, Uryu has harbored a specific hatred for Shinigami and wants to prove that the Quincy are a superior race unbeknownst to him of the origins of the Shinigami & Quincy (later would be told). Uryu attends the same school as Ichigo and since learning of his Shinigami powers (from Rukia), Uryu treats him coldly and believes he is a nuisance, disgrace, and a mockery of Shinigami. It wouldn't be long before Uryu befriends Ichigo, but still they bicker over disputes amongst each kind. Uryu's hatred for Shinigami is personified in his merciless killing of hollows, but later - Uryu warms up to the Shinigami as not all are bad. He soon joins Ichigo alongside Chad, Orihime, Rukia, & Renji in fighting off various enemies before embarking on his own, alongside Yhwach, in eliminating the Shinigami for unclear purposes.

Strength/Power (Yoko Kurama)
Yoko Kurama wields a rose whip, capable of slicing demons of any caliber. However, his true power is derived from his demon form - his rose whip capable of cutting through most things and is power level exceeding that of his human state. What makes Kurama such an interesting character aside from his abilities is his innovation, intelligence, and precision. In fighting demons, he is quick to learn of his opponents strengths and weaknesses. Some prime examples is planting a seed inside Roto, who had threatened to kill his human mother or finding the weak point in Genbu's recovery. Kurama pinpoints and strikes at home his opponents, merciless or not, in hopes they submit or die. Kurama has taken down demons of all kinds (EX: Karasu, Ura Urashima, Toya, and Gama), but knows that there's also limitations because of his human side (lost to Shigure and was weak after defeating Toya and Gama). He is capable of striking fear in his opponents, creating opportunities in fighting his opponents, and discerning their next move before they can make it. Human or Demon, Kurama's intellect compliments his calm demeanor as he is not to be underestimated by any means.

Strength/Power (Uryu Ishida)
Uryu, when it comes to his bow and arrows, is precise, much like a marksman. He is able to stand on par with Captain class Shinigami Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Espada Yammy, and Bount Yoshi. Next to Ichigo, Uryu is the 2nd strongest member of Ichigo's group. What makes Uryu such a formidable opponent is his ability to discern, much like Kurama, opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Prime examples was figuring on former Espada Cirucci Sanderwicci's attack patterns when in her Resurreccion, Bount Yoshi's abilities in her Doll, or planning ahead a booby trap for Espada Yammy. Uryu was at his strongest when he fought Mayuri, but since then, he's grown stronger, mastering Reishi absorption, Hirenkyaku (speed), Ginto (similar to Kido), and is versatile in the utilization of his bows and arrows. Uryu, however, has had his fair share of losses - Kaname Tosen & the 4th Espada, Ulquiorra. As a proud Quincy, Uryu prides himself in his abilities and it clearly showcases that he isn't someone to underestimate, considering he holds the 2nd highest title in the Stern Ritters.

Relationship to Yusuke
Kurama is close to Yusuke because of his willingness to sacrifice himself to save Kurama's mother. Despite being an enemy in the beginning, Kurama did no harm to Yusuke and has always had his back from the start. Alongside Hiei & Kuwabara, he's become a valuable asset to Yusuke's team. It clearly shows that these two, though different in personality, genuinely care and trust one another and want them to succeed in their battles against various demons. Kurama was riddled with anger when Yusuke supposedly died when fighting Shinobu Sensui, indicating that Kurama would die for Yusuke just as Hiei and Kuwabara would. The latter also shows Yusuke beating the crap out of Bakken when he mercilessly beat Kurama, who was weakened from fighting 2 matches and having a handicap (Gama's art). Together, their friendship has endured a lot, but they paved way for both to come out strong and better than ever.

Relationship to Ichigo
Uryu thinks of Ichigo, at first, as a moron, dimwit, and too overconfident for his own good. However, Uryu would prove to be one of Ichigo's closest friends despite them initially being rivals. Uryu joins Ichigo's cause and has proven to have put trust and faith in Ichigo's abilities. Uryu saved Ichigo before he went full on berserk in doing more damage to him and has proven that he's grown stronger when fighting Iceringer upon arriving in Hueco Mundo. Despite being different, Uryu sees Ichigo as a frenemy and believes he is truly capable of much more feats. Uryu's trust in Ichigo also has grown strong, primarily when he entrusted Ichigo to save Orihime or else he'll kill Ichigo (a motivator perhaps). Uryu and Ichigo tag-teamed in the very beginning when fighting a Menos and it showcases what's to come as the two embark on a journey to save Rukia from persecution, but the two would be worlds apart as Uryu is sided with the Vandenreich and Ichigo is their primary target - this is a test of their struggling friendship in hopes to not overcome themselves, but to overcome who they are as Shinigami & Quincy.

Verdict
And the winner is...
Kurama shows more promise and his ongoing talents showcase that he is both a demon and a friend. A calculative tactician, innovative, and precise - Kurama's talents have exceeded expectations upon fighting various demons and he is shown to have always plenty tricks up his sleeves. Kurama and Yusuke were never enemies from the get-go and their friendship over time has built and built whereas Uryu & Ichigo is hit-and-miss. They genuinely do care for one another, but their is still a hunt of doubt because of who they are and what they are capable of. Uryu is at an impasse - choosing to side with the Quincy, he is eliminating all doubt and making the Shinigami his primary target as well as throwing away his talents and his friednship with Ichigo & his friends. However, Uryu may/may not have a ulterior motive siding with the enemy, but with Yhwach clearly seeing Uryu as a potential heir to his power, will Uryu be blinded by his ambition as a Quincy or will he side with his friends, throwing away all doubts while possibly destroying the chance to learn of other Quincy aside from himself? You see that this battle is about personality, wits, and innovation and, to me, Kurama takes the cake because he will always choose Yusuke over anyone else, eliminating any doubt that he'd do them wrong, whether in human or in demons form (Plus he's stronger in his demon form). And I personally believe Kurama could analyze Uryu's attacks before Uryu could do the same, but that's only a matter of opinion.
