Throwback #31 - Before hope is lost completely
Upon Aizen's ascension into power, our heroes fall one by one to his might, ambition, and newfound fusion with the Hogyoku, Kisuke Urahara's creation that has created a bridge between Shinigami & Hollow. When all hope is lost, where will out heroes turn to in this time of need? Shinigami are sacrificing their lives in order to bring an end to Aizen's plan, but Aizen's power is phenomenal, transcending that of the Gods. With each Captain class Shinigami falling like flies, it seems as if Aizen's plan could truly come into fruition. However, just before our heroes can grovel in their loss, backup has arrived in the form the former Shinigami and now Visored. Led by Shinji Hirako, this ragtag team of former Captain class Shinigami have come to thwart Aizen's plan once and for all and with Ichigo by their side, it is possible. They unleash hell on the incoming Menos, but it wouldn't be long before the Visored are confronting the Espada one by one. With the Visored here, it's better than to have more allies than to admit loss. The Visored aren't to be trifled with, considering they can stand on par with the Espada. With this, the tide of the battle could, for a bit, shift in the favor of our heroes. This comes to show that help isn't too far for our heroes as they ready to get back up and kick some more A$$.

Keiko Yukimura vs. Orihime Inoue (The Supportive Gals)
VS.
Our main heroes need a little female support and who better than to support them than the very women who have crushes on them. Keiko Yukimura & Orihime Inoue's relationship with the protagonists is dynamic, ranging from the stereotypical high school friend to eventual crush/girlfriend. These two aren't pushovers and, despite the world their crushes are in, they will do whatever it takes to support their cause. They often worry for their safety, but they know that deep down - they'll come back better than ever. We will be comparing Yu Yu Hakusho's Keiko Yukimura and Bleach's Orihime Inoue. I will be comparing the following: Character History, Relationship to Protagonist, & Supportiveness. For this specific Matchup, I will not be incorporating Orihime's power.
Character History (Keiko Yukimura)
Keiko is Yusuke's childhood friend - kind, thoughtful, caring, and protective. She has always wanted what's best for Yusuke, but was unprepared for his accidental death and his following of fighting demons. To her, it was all a fantasy and it was a figment of her imagination, but she soon realized she couldn't run away from the facts and still support Yusuke's endeavors, but will always constantly care and worry for his friend's safety. And it's no surprise that Keiko has a crush on Yusuke, but it does stem from the fact that they are childhood friends and is the one that accepted Yusuke for who he was - dead or alive.
Character History (Orihime Inoue)
Okay, where do I begin with this one. Orihime had a older brother, is friends with Tatsuki at a young age, and soon joins in Ichigo's against evil. Orihime and Ichigo started off as friends, but that friendship soon transformed into admiration and then love. Orihime, having lost her brother, sees Tatsuki and her other friends as her only family. Her brother's soul was devoured by a hollow and she sees Ichigo, our hero, save her from absolute despair. Orihime is kind, thoughtful, giving, creative (her drawings), and dare I say - weird (her fantasies). Much like Uryu & Chad, Orihime becomes a supportive member of Ichigo's group.
Relationship to Protagonist (Keiko X Yusuke)
As I said before, Keiko & Yusuke are childhood friends. Their relationship has always been a dynamic one considering their history together, Keiko's caring nature, Yusuke's protectiveness of her, and their worlds apart in their fate - one is a human and the other a demon (well half). Despite this, Keiko loves Yusuke and, in the first few episodes, kissed him in hopes he'd come back alive. Keiko was traumatized of Yusuke's endeavors in the Dark Tournament, but knew that Yusuke was fighting not only for his life, but the lives of his friends. Even after Yusuke spent some time in the Demon World, Keiko's love for never changed as she (in the anime) embraced Yusuke and kissed them - indicating they were always meant to be. It is also implied that Yusuke himself (when talking to his late ancenstral father, Raizen) has always had Keiko in his heart. A promising pair that has, from the start, loved and cared for one another.
Relationship to Protagonist (Orihime X Ichigo)
Orihime and Ichigo started off as friends and soon that transformed into admiration and eventually into love. Orihime has never kissed Ichigo, but was relatively close upon saying her final goodbyes before departing to Hueco Mundo as Aizen's prisoner. Orihime is protective of Ichigo and cried for him on multiple occasions when his life was in danger (EX: Visored Ichigo vs. Grimmjow & Ichigo vs. Aizen in Soul Society). Orihime genuinely wants Ichigo to be safe, but knows Ichigo has to throw himself into danger to protect his friends and family from harm. Orihime knows that despite Ichigo's newfound powers, Ichigo will never abandon who he and never let go of his friends & family. In the 4th Bleach movie specifically, we see Orihime embrace Ichigo before he went off to Hell. After Grimmjow's defeat, we see Ichigo carry Orihime (much like the damsel in distress). They genuinely care for one another greatly.
Supportiveness (Keiko)
Keiko can't fight demons or protect herself from them, but when it comes to supportiveness - she clearly is in the right. She wants Yusuke to be safe, but knows that this is Yusuke's fate - a life apart from normality. Despite her not wanting Yusuke to fight, she knows that Yusuke has to - protecting his friends is an important attribute Yusuke possesses. Keiko admires and loves Yusuke and her undying devotion to him is only testament to how close they've gotten over Yusuke's endeavors and, once again, their history as childhood friends.
Supportiveness (Orihime)
Orihime, much like Keiko, supports Orihime despite heeding warnings of Ichigo going in over his head. Orihime wants what's best for Ichigo, but knows that Ichigo is doing all this to protect the humans, pluses, Shinigami, & other worldly beings. Orihime genuinely cares for everyone, but I found it fascinating that before departing to Hueco Mundo, Orihime chose Ichigo to say goodbye too. Despite not having known him from the get-go, Orihime understands now Ichigo's history and his power and is a voice in Ichigo's head to always come back alive.
Verdict
And the winner is....
This may shock you guys, but despite me being a Ichihime fan, they have a lot to go through before they reach Keiko & Yusuke's level. Keiko and Yusuke are childhood friends, have kissed, understand each other's struggle, and genuinely care for one another. Although Keiko is human, she has a big role in Yusuke's life and the two have always an affinity for one another - it just took the end of the series to realize that they were always meant to be (as implied in the picture). Whereas with Ichigo & Orihime, Orihime got to know Ichigo as time progresses and even then, they haven't kissed yet or proclaimed each other as a couple, Keiko & Yusuke ARE a couple. Ichigo & Orihime genuinely care for one another, know each other's history, and when so far as to protect one another despite one being a human and the other a Shinigami/Quincy hybird - but they don't have the Keiko X Yusuke spark needed to be a real couple....yet. Fanfictions are centered around Ichihime, but alas - we have to see the kiss. They've hugged each other and saved one another, but it takes more than protection and embracing to be considered a couple like Keiko & Yusuke. So although I'm a huge huge huge Ichihime fan, I believe this victory goes to the childhood friend turned lover - Keiko Yukimura. As always, feel free to leave a comment below and be sure to check out the other 3 Bleach Hakusho matchups:

RBT #9 - Tatsufusa is blasting off again
Remember in Pokemon when Ash & his friends always reign victory over the idiotic, moronic, and repetitive Team Rocket and they always flew off citing their catchphrase "Team Rocket is blasting off again?" Well this fight in Bleach pretty much sums that up, but instead of Pikachu using Thunderbolt on Team Rocket, we have Chad punch Tatsufusa in the face, sending him flying across the sky. And he has a crush on Sui-Feng? Now that's funny.

Genkai vs. Kisuke Urahara (The Masterful Teachers)
VS.
Welcome to our 3rd Installment of Bleach Hakusho Month. If you haven't yet, check out the other two previous Bleach Hakusho posts provided below:
Kazuma Kuwabara vs. Yasutora Sado - http://bleachzealot.blogspot.com/2014/02/kazuma-kuwabara-vs-yasutora-sado.html
Hiei vs. Byakuya Kuchiki - http://bleachzealot.blogspot.com/2013/06/byakuya-kuchiki-vs-hiei-battle-of-speed.html
Well then, let's continue on with the Teachers. These two prominent figures played a pivotal role in developing our main characters (Ichigo & Yusuke). Wise and powerful, these two teachers did whatever it took to train their students not only to reach their true potential, but have the ability to lead, forge, and set a path for themselves. You could argue that both Bleach & Yu Yu Hakusho had a lot of teachers, some better than others, but Kisuke & Genkai that stood out for me as the ideal teachers in their respective series. Without further ado, it is the matchup of who the better teacher is - The former 12th division captain or the creator of the Spirit wave? I will be comparing the following: History, Power/Strength, and Relationship to Protagonist.
History (Genkai)
Long before meeting Yusuke Urameshi, she, alongside friend and eventual enemy Toguro, took part of the Dark Tournament and won. Toguro was made into a full demon whereas Genkai detached herself from him, not wanting to have part of demons. A once beautiful girl in Toguro's eyes has now grown old, but with what she lacks in age she makes up for in experience, power, and wisdom. Under the mantle of Genkai, it wouldn't be long before she meets her favorite student (dimwit), Yusuke. As the creator of the spirit wave, her mastery of this technique has been renowned by pretty much everyone. She holds the Genkai Tournament where she held a tournament to see who she'll train as a disciple and eventually taking part alongside her student, Yusuke, in the Dark Tournament to face off once and for all Team Toguro, wanting to cut all ties with him. After the Genkai and Dark Tournament, it wouldn't be long before she assists Yusuke in the Chapter Black Saga and appears again in the end, deeming her will of her estate to Yusuke & friends. Genkai, from the get-go, has helped out the former Sprit Detective and, even in her old age, her strength and wisdom is unmatched.
History (Kisuke Urahara)
Long before meeting Ichigo, he was part of the 2nd division in the Gotei 13 alongside his longtime friend, Yoruichi. He was then promoted to Captain of the 12th division and, alongside Hiyori and Mayuri, transformed the 12th division. He is known as the creator of the Hogyoku, but was unable to harness its power, thus was unable to find a remedy for the hollowfied Shinigami (Shinji, Love, Rose, Mashiro, Lisa, Hachigen, & Hiyori). He was banished from the Soul Society for "conducting experiments," but Yoruichi swooped in, saved him (alongside Tessai & the Visored), and went on to live in the human world, to escape persecution. It wouldn't be long before Kisuke Urahara meets our hero, Ichigo, and has since then training Ichigo on his newfound powers and abilities, Kisuke knows the ins and outs of the Soul Society and thus was able to help out Ichigo's development. However, on the side, Kisuke's Hogyoku was stored inside a Gigai (Aka Rukia's human body), but Ichigo and the ohters figured it out and Urahara apologized for deceiving/keeping it a secret. Long after, Urahara has gotten involved with Ichigo's affairs and will do whatever it takes to stop Soul Society's enemies.
Power/Strength (Genkai)
Genkai is the very person who created the Spirit Wave and was the original owner of the Spirit Wave Orb, the very center of Genkai's technique and power. Genkai, years after her departure from Toguro, has perfected her technique - the body itself becoming a weapon. This enables her spirit energy to shape and form around her martial arts and thus creating multiple attacks from her technique - Spirit Wave, Spirit Shotgun, Spirit Reflection Blast, Spirit Cuffs, and at the heart of it - the Spirit Wave Orb. Genkai, during the Dark Tournament, did a # on most of the opponents including Shishiwakamaru, the beautiful Suzuki (Suzuka in Dubbed), and Dr Ichigaki's human puppets (3). She also has the ability to heal, put back a person's soul in their body, and form protective barriers. Her most impressive feat is being able to exert her power by manipulating her cells - going from old lady to young woman, where she was at her strongest (prime).
Power/Strength (Kisuke Urahara)
Kisuke is smart, innovative, and is quick to observe the strong and weak points of his enemy. Aside from the creation of the Hogyoku, Kisuke is quite skilled in hand-to-hand fighting since he was a former member of the 2nd Division (Stealth/Assassination Division). In his fights, he's learned to make Gigai copies as a ploy for the enemy (EX: against Yammy), is masterful in Kido (EX: against Aizen), and let's not forget - he possesses Benihime, his Zanpaktou. Being one of the former Captains of the Gotei 13, his Zanpaktou has the ability to analyze, shape, and create whatever with his crimson-colored energy emitting from his Zanpaktou. He is able to stand on par with Yammy and do little damage to Aizen (who at this time is influenced by the Hogyoku's will). There's so much he can do with his Zanpaktou, but most of all - his innovation and quick-thinking always give him the upper hand.
Relationship w/Yusuke
Genkai thought of Yusuke as a dimwit and rash, but as time progressed, Yusuke learned and mastered Genkai's technique and abilities. He not only has Genkai's abilities, but now Yusuke can fight on equal footing with high-class demons such as Toguro & Yomi. Genkai thinks of Yusuke as both a pupil and kinda like a son. It's funny that despite Genkai and Toguro's fight, Toguro, just like Genkai, cares for the wellbeing of Yusuke - he'll only become stronger and is capable of even more feats. Genkai by any means isn't a pushover and will train Yusuke to his bones until he is disciplined and willing to accept that Yusuke is a prodigy under the renowned Genkai.
Relationship w/Ichigo
Kisuke sees Ichigo as a friend and as someone who is special, capable of impressive feats, and is the one that can put an end to Aizen's plot. In the beginning, Kisuke trained Ichigo harshly, even going out of his way to kill him if Ichigo doesn't step his game up. This not only shows Kisuke's willingness to help Ichigo discover his true potential, but the discipline needed for Ichigo to unlock it. Kisuke, at times, can be a joker, but his intentions were never meant for bad. When he told Ichigo of the Hogyoku's whereabouts in Rukia's Gigai, Kisuke ultimately made a 50/50 gamble that could've backfired and destroyed the trust and friendship of Ichigo and his friends. Kisuke, however, was forgiven and still remains a loyal ally alongside Ichigo.
Verdict
And the winner is....
Kisuke Urahara, former 12th captain of the Gotei 13, has a lot going for him. Due to the creation of the Hogyoku, he has hurt his fellow comrades, allowed Aizen to get his hands on it, and ultimately it did considerable damage to the Gotei 13. Kisuke is the heart of it all - creating both a gift and a curse. This puts burden on Urahara considering it's his fault on the creation of the Hogyoku. Through his innovative, wisdom, and unique abilities, Kisuke has proven that even in banishment, he is still a force to be reckoned with. Despite his faults, he makes up for it by assisting Ichigo & his allies. Urahara primarily was never content from the get-go, placing heavy burden on his part due to his own mistakes in the past that altered the fate of Gotei 13. As a teacher, he may be laid back at times, but he won't hesitate to put up a fight. And what's worse is the idea that we have no clue what his Bankai can do, but his Shikai is both an offensive/defensive weapon capable of handling each hazard carefully. Genkai is a great teacher, a powerful fighter, and a wise old woman, but it seems like her role after the Dark Tournament with Toguro has been full of content. Finding a disciple, giving him/her her abilities, and retiring (death in manga) after a long time - Genkai had no regrets. The only regret she had was Toguro's transformation, but assisting Yusuke in his endeavors proved that even at her age, she still showed promise. Genkai may be the creator of the impressive Spirit Wave Ord, but Kisuke has created a substance that blurs the line between Shinigami & Hollow and, to me, they are both impressive feats. In the end, Kisuke is the clear winner.

So I hope you enjoyed this week's Bleach Hakusho post and WBCR (down below) and as always, you all stay classy now.
WBCR - Oniichan to the Rescue (Grade B+)
In last week's Bleach chapter, I thought that Rukia completely eliminated As Nodt, but contrary to that belief - he is very much alive. Not only is he alive, but he is scary as F*ck. I mean look at the picture, does that guy look dead? Nope. The only fear this being has is the wrath from his own Lord. Other than that, Rukia's abilities didn't cease As Nodt once bit as he unleashes his power - Tartar Foras (Hope I spelled that right) which translated into "Fear of God." So even if Rukia froze and manipulated her cells to her very whim, As Nodt's abilities allows him to access a person's optic nerves and flood their subconscious with fear - the despair and horrific events that transpired throughout Rukia's life now are resurfacing once more. Closing her eyes won't do any good and Rukia, aware that As Nodt is someone not to be underestimated, is at an impasse. Her training drastically enhanced her abilities, but in the end - it wasn't enough to conqueror As Nodt. And so, who else is to show up and save the damsel in distress again - Rukia's Oniichan, Byakuya Kuchiki. And that pretty much sums up the chapter. Rukia thought she won, As Nodt unleashes his power, and Byakuya shows up to save her sister. First off, I will admit, they are pulling another Mask De Masculine fight, going over multiple chapters, but I find this fight more interesting than the previous (that goes without saying). Secondly, Rukia being saved again by someone else has now become one of the most cliche things in Bleach, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a good/bad thing. There's room for improvement, don't get me wrong, but it feels as if Rukia's training and abilities was meant for, perhaps, another opponent. Maybe Rukia's chance meeting with As Nodt is a precursor to Byakuya's arrival on his growth. That could be the case, but this then makes Rukia's abilities towards As Nodt...useless. Yes, her abilities are impressive, but again and again - it's either set up as a precursor for someone else to step in or for improvement of her abilities on someone of her caliber. So I'm going to give this week's Chapter a B+ because it showcases that there is room for improvement on Rukia's part (Don't be a Wuss Rukia, you know better than that), but also will showcase that Byakuya's abilities aren't something to underestimate. As always, look forward to WBCRs every Wednesday (unless specified) and you all stay classy now. Here's the link to this week's chapter - http://readms.com/r/bleach/568/2252/1. Look forward to Bleach Yakusho's matchup today.

Affinity #25 - Teacher & Student (Kaien & Rukia)
One of the most dynamic affinities in all of Bleach would have to be between Kaien Shiba and Rukia Kuchiki of the 13th Division. Long before Rukia met our hero, Rukia was just starting out her days as a member of the 13th division under Captain Ukitake and shared 3rd Seats Kiyone & Sentaro. Before she became the Lieutenant of the 13th division, she was under the mantle of Kaien Shiba, who had a prominent influence in Rukia's upbringing as a Shinigami. Kaien, much like Ichigo, spoke truth, had confidence, comedy, bravado, and most of all - Honor. It is unfortunate that the man whom Rukia once admired was taken over by the hollow, Mestastacia, and Rukia had no other choice but to end the Shinigami's life. This not only became one of the most difficult things Rukia had to do, but she's, for so long, had to carry the burden of being titled "The Shinigami that killed Kaien Shiba." This creates unease with the remaining Shiba siblings as they, for the longest time, have held a grudge against Rukia. It wouldn't be til later that they would forgive Rukia and that there was from the start no cruel intention of killing Kaien, but that it had to be done to save his life and to end the hollow's life that dwelled within his fallen friend & mentor. Kaien was content with Rukia ending his suffering because he knew that it would be a lot on Rukia and since her days in the Gotei 13, she's matured - adapting the teachings of her Kaien in hopes to become a better person who does good, is willing to protect her friends at all costs, have confidence in her abilities, and most of all - have her honor.
It wouldn't be til later that Rukia would have to cut down the splitting image of Kaien Shiba, who was, from the start, the 9th Espada. The 9th Espada's abilities allows it to consume the abilities of hollows and one the hollows that the 9th Espada devoured is the same hollow that killed Kaien Shiba. It not only acquired Mestastacia's abilities, but also the abilities of the fallen Shinigami. Rukia knew that Kaien would no longer be the same person she once knew before and struck down the 9th Espada, as well as cutting ties with Kaien once and for all. To Rukia, the 9th Espada (I know he has a name, but his name is irritating to spell, lol) stepped on Kaien's honor by utilizing his Zanpaktou abilities, face, and especially memories. The 9th Espada trampled Kaien's image by manipulating Rukia into killing her comrades, but Rukia knew this was the 9th Espada's doing and that the REAL Kaien wouldn't say that to Rukia.
In her endeavors since then, Rukia has matured, adopted the teachings of her former mentor and friend, and now seeks to do the same as she assists Ichigo and his friends in defeating the Vandenreich. Rukia has grown stronger not only physically, but mentally. She knows now that the heart of her universe can't be easily shaken.
I hope you enjoyed this week's Affinity. Bleach Hakusho's March schedule will be up this Thursday. As always, you stay classy Bleach fans.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - Bleach Hakusho Month (February-March)
VS.
So I've pondering on about future Fight Night posts and, last night, something came to mind. An idea of the sort. In the past Fight Night posts, I made a pairing with Byakuya from Bleach and Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho and today, I paired up Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho and Chad from Bleach. I gave one victory to Bleach (Byakuya) and the other to Yu Yu Hakusho (Kuwabara). These are two of my favorite action/adventure anime and I can draw comparisons with a good # of the characters. So I decided to hold a Bleach Hakusho Fight Night Tournament. Starting February 12th (Wednesday), I will be posting Fight Night posts pairing Bleach vs. Yu Yu Hakusho. Below is the Kuwabara vs. Chad Fight
Kazuma Kuwabara vs. Yasutora Sado (The Reliable Friend)
VS.
Two of my favorite Animes of all time are Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho. Both series have their fair share of likable characters, but two stood out for me. These two are similar in their relationship to the protagonist (Ichigo & Yusuke in this case), are reliable when it comes to a fight, and are main characters next to our heroes. Today we will be comparing Bleach's Yasutora Sado & Yu Yu Hakusho's very own Kazuma Kuwabara. I will be comparing the following: Background/Relationship to Protagonist & Power.
Background/Relationship to Protagonist (Ichigo & Chad)
Chad is a easygoing, quiet, and polite kinda guy. He prefers not to stick his head into trouble and has a close philosophy to not use his hands to fight thanks to the wisdom from his late Grandfather. However, that doesn't stop gangsters from starting conflict with the easygoing Chad. One day Chad gets kidnapped and beaten, but still does not put up a fight. That is, however, the gangsters get a hold of one of Chad's precious coin, a commemorative gift given by his late Grandfather. So who of all people steps in to save Chad, well none other than our main hero, Ichigo Kurosaki. The two promised to protect each other's back and so, Chad has joined Ichigo's cause and their friendship still remains strong. The pacifist must learn to protect his friends, use his fists to fight for good, and muster the power to become stronger.
Background/Relationship to Protagonist (Yusuke & Kuwabara)
Kuwabara loves picking fights with Yusuke. The two delinquents pretty much have a understanding when it comes to fighting, but they have respect for one another because of the strength they possess. Kuwabara is leader of a group of delinquents, has a older sister, a cat, and befriends the Spirit Detective alongside various demon allies. Yusuke's spirit detective days have begun and it wouldn't be long before Kuwabara has powers of his own, creating a spirit sword. Despite having friendly bickering in the past, Kuwabara now fights alongside Yusuke in fighting against various demons and protecting the Human World from annihilation. Kuwabara genuinely cares for Yusuke and would go out of his way to kill the bastards who do him wrong. Kuwabara went from a bumbling delinquent to being one of Yusuke's trusted friends/rivals.
Power (Yasutora Chad)
Much like Orihime, Chad didn't start out with powers. Due to the influence of Ichigo, Chad developed powers of his own, being able to takedown hollows and eventually moving on to stronger opponents. Both of his arms are reminiscent of hollow-like powers, one used for defense and the other for offensive. I am not going into detail the names of his attacks, but let's just say that it really packs a punch. The interesting thing about this is that Chad's power is a Fullbring and it wouldn't be until later that he finds this out (The Fullbringer arc). Not only that, at the start of the story only one of Chad's arms took form, but the other one didn't come about until he, Ichigo, & Uryu invaded Hueco Mundo. Chad has had his fair share of wins (Demoura, Tatsufusa, and Gantenbainne) and losses (Kyoraku and Nnoitra notably), but unfortunately, in my opinion, he's the weakest of the 4 (Ichigo, Uryu, Orihime, and then Chad).
Power (Kazuma Kuwabara)
Much like Yusuke, Kuwabara didn't start off with powers. It's much like Chad and Ichigo really. Kuwabara is able to summon a spirit sword made from his own spirit energy. His sword is able to grow longer or even, when Kuwabara puts his mind to it, become stronger when concentrating his Spirit Energy. He's had his fair share of wins and losses, but despite his clumsy, bumbling, and confident persona - he's had more time to flesh out his powers on strong foes (Ex: Byakko, Elder Togoro, and Seaman). The few times he loss were due to his bravado (EX: Rinku & Shishiwakamaru), but even then it was only because of Kuwabara's overconfidence.
Verdict
And the winner is....
Kazuma Kuwabara is more of a dependent and reliable ally when it comes to his friends. He's had more wins than losses and, despite his bravado, he is a all-around likable guy who only wants what's best for him and his friends. He holds Yusuke, Hiei, Kurama, and Genkai in high regards and has gotten stronger in killing off demons. Chad, unfortunately, isn't used much in Bleach, has more losses than wins, and, in my opinion, is pretty weak. Sure he's also a likable guy, but when it comes down to it - Chad is always at the end. Uryu and even Orihime have saved Ichigo countless times, but Chad seems like he's in the background - ready to be saved by just about anyone. A character doesn't need to have too much bravado or have relatively good locks to be a likable and strong character, but he needs to have more depth (Chad has a backstory and all, but it didn't help improve his victories over losses), more screen-time (was relevant in Fullbring arc, but didn't offer much other than the fact that his power is a Fullbering), and more action-packed fights (his fights didn't get me psyched up and he never has anything new to offer). I didn't see that with Chad at all and that's why I chose Kuwabara as the clear winner. I hope you enjoyed this week's Fight Night Post and wait for a special announcement later on today. As always, stay classy Bleach fans.

Throwback #30 - Am I like them?
At the very beginning of this arc, Ichigo has been informed of a new breed of enemies: The Arrancar, high-class hollows that are just as strong as Captain-level Shinigami. 2 members of the Espada (Ulquiorra & Yammy) show up and these guys aren't f'ing around, being able to kick Ichigo and his friends' asses with ease or without having to unsheathe their Zanpaktou. Ichigo, at first, though they were like Shinji, dawning the age of where humans and hollows have become one entity. However, Ichigo was wrong - Shinji is a member of the Visored, Shinigami who've obtained Arrancar powers, and the 2 Espada are Arrancars (Vasto Lorde to be exact), Hollows who've removed their masks to obtain Shinigami powers. Ichigo's newfound Visored powers are just manifesting, but to Ichigo, it is the phenomenon in which the hollow within Ichigo can just as easily take over and hurt his friends and family. Upon fighting Yammy, Ichigo's hollow wishes to take over, but Ichigo won't submit. As a result, Ichigo was beaten to a pulp by Yammy and Urahara & Yoruichi had to step in to ensure Ichigo, Orihime, or Chad don't die. You see Ichigo's inner demons trying to get the best of him, but Ichigo knows that that's not who he is. He is a man that protect, cares, and fends for his family, friends, and the living. However, the hollow wants to corrupt Ichigo, turn him into a maniac that thrives on fighting, bloodshed, and mercilessly taking what's rightfully his by force. Ichigo is in deep trouble when getting savagely beaten by Yammy, but he'd rather get beaten than let the hollow take over and corrupt his mind. This is where Ichigo learns of the many obstacles that stand before him - the Visored, the Arrancar, and Aizen's newfound plan to turn Karakura Town & Gotei 13 into a graveyard. But can Ichigo conqueror himself before he has a chance to stand toe-to-toe with this new breed of enemies and stop Aizen's plan from coming into fruition?

RBT #8 - Aaaaaaand...you're dead.
Talk about the shortest fight in all of Bleach ~ a mere 29 seconds. Kenpachi slices Giriko in two and that's it. Kenpachi still kicks ass, but man was Giriko out of his league. Well, it took a second for Kenpachi to cut him in two and 27 seconds for Giriko to sprout nonsense.

WBCR - So this what Fear feels like? (Grade A+)
MAN, what a great chapter. Rukia kicked a whole lotta ass and damn, that cover page (if you know what I mean). As Nodt is by far one of the creepiest villains in Bleach, but the very question that does boggle me is - is he dead? The very essence of fear exists so long as one is living, as stated by As Nodt, but As Nodt thought it was Bull that Rukia was immune to such fear. However, As Nodt was unaware of Rukia's rigorous training in the Royal Palace and, just like Renji, has become stronger, formidable, and a pillar of hope for the Gotei 13 against their fight with the Vandenreich. So Rukia's Zanpaktou can apparently make the wielder's body to temperatures below zero. Anything the wielder touches (Rukia in this case) will freeze and with body temperature going below normal, she is by definition "dead." Rukia has done the impossible - Mastering the ability to function in a state of death by manipulating her own reishi. So pretty much As Nodt's ability to touch anyone to trigger fear won't work on Rukia since she's considered 'dead,' and is not in a living state. And it keeps getting lower and lower - Eighteen below Zero (the freezing point that prevents any leakage from wounds), Fifty below Zero (the moisture on the ground freezes, causing a earthquake), and finally 273.15 below Zero (Absolute Zero). With Rukia only have 4 seconds of mobility, she freezes the crap out of As Nodt and his final thoughts (presumed he's dead)...."so this is what it feels like to fear?" I'm starting to like Rukia a lot more now - she truly has proven that she is a formidable foe and her mastering of acting during a 'dead' state is just, in my opinion, phenomenal. I hope As Nodt stays dead because that guy creeps the crap out of me and, like Mask De Masculine, hope doesn't miraculously come back alive. I guess you can say my own gripe with this chapter is As Nodt became cocky, apparently thinking he has the upper hand because of his own ability (but doesn't change the fact that Rukia kicked a whole lotta ass and her abilities. WRONG, one's ability isn't enough to win a fight, it's utilizing it to the bests of one's abilities. I think this is a strong chapter and I can't wait to see more of Rukia. I hope you enjoyed this week's chapter of Bleach. Here's the link (picture from Mangastream) to this week's chapter and as always, you all stay classy now - http://readms.com/r/bleach/567/2238/1

Affinity #24 - Lieutenant & Friend (Rangiku & Momo)
This picture pretty much says it all. Once again I'd like to apologize for not posting any Affinities since last December, been lazy (Whoopsy-Daisy). But here we are in the month of February ready to start back up again and trust me, there's a lot of Affinities to go over. Let's start with an Affinity I overlooked, Rangiku & Momo. Both these beautiful women hold a special place in Hitsugaya's heart since both influenced him to become a part of the Gotei 13. Rangiku is Hitsugaya's Lieutenant and the one who inspired him to enroll in the Gotei 13 so he can control his spiritual powers. Momo is Hitsugaya's childhood friend/sister-like figure that enrolled in the Gotei 13 because of her willingness to join the 5th division (who then was led by Captain Aizen previously). These two are powerful in their own right, but what I like about these two is that they are willing to go lengths to ensure each other's safety as well as the safety of Captain Hitsugaya. In their fight against Aizen, these two had each other's back (though both were pretty much f''d up in the process), but it doesn't change the fact that these two are friends, loyal and bound. There are a lot of Affinities that have each other's backs and that's what I like - the teamwork, the camaraderie, and the overall loyalty and trust they have for one another - Rangiku and Momo are no exception. Though both have their own skill attributes and part of different divisions - it doesn't change the fact that they'll always be friends, protectors, and there for each - for better or for worse.
I hope you enjoyed this week's Affinity. New affinities every Tuesday (unless specified otherwise) and until then, you all stay classy now.

Kobato Hasegawa vs. Yuzu Kurosaki (Cute Sister Overload)
VS.
Now I know what you're thinking, these two Animes are completely different. One is action/adventure and the other is comedy/romance. One is filled weapons and the other has shenanigans. The main character of Bleach has 2 sisters and the main character of Haganai has only 1. Ichigo's sisters are supportive, though are minimal in role and purpose. Kodaka's sister has a brother-complex. So why then make the comparison with these two sisters? Well, to be honest, it doesn't really matter what Anime series you compare to Bleach so long as you can find some common ground on characters. I mean check out last week's Fight Night, it was uneven and I gave the victor to the Bleach character because her character is more fleshed out, is more interesting, and can stand her own ground. So this week's Fight Night post will be featuring the battle of the supportive sisters. Now I know I didn't add Karin to this, but in my opinion, Yuzu and Kobato seem to be evenly similar in their attach-ness to their brother, or shall we say "Onii-Chan!"
Story: Kobato is Kodaka's little sister and is an avid fan of watching Anime and even going so far as to portray the characters in real life. She sees herself as a vampire and constantly make puns surrounding her inability to do things because of her influence of Anime (Ex: Unable to go out when it's really hot). She sees that her own brother is more involved in the club than her and so she partakes in her brother's endeavors and finds that she has all the more reason to worry for her brother - Maria's closeness to Kodaka. Now it's clearly obvious that she has a brother-complex, but that doesn't stop her from spending time with the Neighbors Club and partaking in their day-to-day Shenanigans.
Yuzu Kurosaki is a bit different. She is seen more as a motherly sister than Kobato, but nonetheless, she brings love, joy, and optimism in Bleach. Though limited in her role, she constantly worries over her brother's safety and, unlike Karin who can clearly see spirits/hollows, can see only blurry images of spirits/hollows. Her constantly worry for her brother stems from the fact that she took charge of the household after their mother's unfortunate passing. Yuzu is grown up now after the timeskip, but still acts the same - maintaining good grades while at the same time harboring worriment over her brother's safety and taking care of the household alongside Karin and Isshin, unaware that they can sense spirits and hollows.
Character: Kobato clearly is an funny little gal. The influence of Anime can do so much on someone and she takes it the extreme. You remember the cosplayers that you see that dress up like their favorite Anime characters? Imagine taking that, but going beyond. You act, talk, and dress like your character that you sometimes forget that hey, you got another side of you that is different from what you see in Anime. So Kobato's characters is heavily influenced by Anime, but at the same time it doesn't change the fact that Kobato's closeness to her brother stems from the fact that it's only her and Kodaka living together.
Yuzu, as stated above in the story aspect of the Fight Night, is more motherly than sisterly. Of course, as the little sister, she worried for her brother, but it stems again from the fact that Masaki Kurosaki passed away too early, leaving Yuzu to take charge of the cooking, cleaning, and worrying - much like a parent. She genuinely cares about her family's safety and the element of love and kindness she possesses also showcases that she is more than capable of doing things independently and without having others help her. She is fun, loving, funny (at times), and is a pillar of hope for the Kurosaki family. She is the only one that somewhat senses Hollows unlike Karin and Isshin, but that doesn't stop her from seeing the brighter side of things - her brother's maturity, her father's comic relief, and her sister's independence.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Fight Night Post and until then, you stay classy.

Throwback #29 - Hey look, it's a Shinji
From the conception of Bleach, Tite Kubo has introduced us to many memorable, funny, and great characters. Some may be more powerful than others, but the others make up for it with their backstories, their abilities, and what they bring to their own division. Did you know, however, that Shinji Hirako's character was developed way before his introduction? As we all know, Shinji was introduced as a transfer student in Karakura after Aizen's defection. Later we find that Shinji's character is more than just a jokester, but he possesses enough strength to take down Ichigo. Both are Visored and it only makes sense that these two meet and Shinji's history with Aizen is introduced later on as the story progresses. I just wanted to point out that I found it fascinating that Shinji's character is introduced in the 1st chapter (next to Rukia), but it makes me wonder if Tite Kubo knew all along Shinji's role or heck, if he was even named Shinji from the get-go. So this little bit of trivia is the long awaited Throwback and I do apologize I haven't been thorough or on-time. Until then, look forward for more Throwbacks every Sunday and you all stay classy now.

RBT #7 - Sickass Promo
Though this isn't a sporadic clip from Bleach, it is an Adult Swim promo of Bleach, combining two of my favorite things - Anime & Hip-Hop together. The promo is fitting, the music compliments the scenes, and overall - a welcome addition to an Adult Swim promo of a beloved Anime series.

RBT #6 - Unscathed
Yumichika of the 11th Division has a unique ability when it comes to his Zanpaktou. Yachiru, Ikkaku, & even Captain Kenpachi are unaware of Yumichika's abilities and it is preferable that not one knows since its pretty much taboo in the 11th division. Yumichika, the 5th seat, still kicks a lot of A$$ as seen in coming out unscathed when battling Hisagi.

WBCR - Fearing something incapable of Fear (Grade A-)
Rukia's Face....you know sh!t's about to go down when Rukia is getting tired of As Nodt's Sh!t. I mean, don't forget, this is the same guy who nearly killed Byakuya and stole his Bankai in the process. Rukia won't forget an insubordination from As Nodt, even if he embodies Fear. Coincidentally, it's fitting that Rukia's first opponent be the very person who almost took away her brother. However, before we see Rukia and As Nodt come face to face, we see that Rukia & Renji planned beforehand to take down as many Stern Ritter as they can and then hide out so that they aren't outmatched or surprised-attacked. However, NaNaNa was watching Renji and sees him as prey worth fighting. But afterwards, Rukia and As Nodt's confrontation ensues and as expected, As Nodt thinks he has the lead. However, Rukia finishes the chapter with the line - "Perhaps 'fear' to you is something that is not capable of 'fear?'" That line pretty much states that As Nodt may fear Rukia not having fear or, to put it, As Nodt fears someone incapable of fear. And that sums up the chapter pretty much. I like this chapter because Rukia's confidence has gone up and you know that she is capable of great feats. I also cam interested in seeing Renji vs. NaNaNa, who will reign victorious? All I know is that sh!t is about to go down. The MEME I use to sum up each Chapter Grade isn't working, but this week's Chapter, though short, is a A-. Until then, ya'll stay classy now. (Sorry the Meme + Grade were posted).

RBT #5 - Ally or Enemy? (Fade to Black Clip)
Remember this scene in the 3rd Bleach film? It pretty much is Ichigo against the whole Seireitei. He has to pretty much remind everyone who he is and that nobody F's with him. He's an ally and friend, but he'll have to work at it again to convince them of his camaraderie and of Rukia's existence.

Seraphim vs. Sui-Feng (Kunoichi Fight)
VS.
It's been quite a long time since I posted any Fight Night post. Not only have I been lazy, but I've been having trouble figuring out who is a perfect match for one another. And hey, this matchup came to mind - two skilled women who pretty much are Ninjas. They're both incredibly fast, have a skill-set that is unmatched, and is friends with the main character of their respective series (Bleach & Is This A Zombie?). So let's start with Is this a Zombie's Seraphim and Bleach's very own Sui-Feng. I'll be the comparing the following: History, Strength, and Relationship to main character.
History - Seraphim was once a proud member of the Vampire Ninja(s), but later would be considered a traitor for disobeying a order (the order to kill Eu, the very person she serves). She becomes fond of the other characters, but not much is touched upon. She's starting out cooking and pleasing Eu, but where she lacks in ethics, cooking skills, and in anything else she makes up for in strength and in music. Sui-Feng has served Yoruichi at a young age and has pretty much dedicated her life to serving her up until her timely disappearance, to which it broke Sui-Feng's respect for her former mentor, friend, and Lord. Sui-Feng's family pretty much served as a branch family under Yoruichi's surname. For years, she dedicated her life to defeating Yoruichi in hopes to surpass her upon her disappearance from Sui-Feng's life.
Strength - Sui-Feng has mastered Shikai, Bankai, and has recently improved in Shunkou. In the past, she was no match for Yoruichi, her former master, even after years of training. However, with Yoruichi back by her side, she not only has improved Shunkou, but I think could stand on par with Yoruichi. Her Bankai is a bit slow since it's a big-ass missile, but her Shikai is much like a Bee's sting. However, in this case, the first sting leaves a mark and the 2nd eliminates her opponents for good. She truly is a deadly opponent. Seraphim only knows 1 move - Tsubamegaeshi Sword Style, which pretty much conjures up a buncha leaves and it becomes her means of offense and defense. And...that's it. She can teleport and whatnot, but there's one thing other than her own style that stands out - her music. Her skills in playing the violin (if I recall) were strong enough to subdue the final fight in Is This a Zombie Season 1. That definitely has some mentioning, but is it relevant, could/could not be.
Relationship to Main Character - Sui-Feng is aware of Ichigo's friendship to Yoruichi and is on good terms with him. Seraphim, on the other hand, calls Ayumu bad names, beats him up, and will do whatever it takes to have Eu notice her over him. Later on, however, Seraphim comes to sorta respect Ayumu's power and even developing a little crush on him.

RBT #4 - The Watermelon of Friendship
Pretty damn cheesy title I know, but this clip showcases the ongoing friendship and affinity that Captain Hitsugaya and Lieutenant Momo Hinamori have that can't be broken so easily since Hitsugaya was young. Though both joined the Gotei 13 eventually at different times, both ended up reuniting and still closer than ever and through the good and bad, they always end up knowing that they will always be close there for one another.
