Bleach Kombat Round 1: Jax Briggs vs. Yasutora "Chad" Sado ('MURICA, F*CK YEAH)

THIS POST IS AN ACT OF PATRIOTISM! 'MURICA! As you well aware, MechG and I are collaborating once more in what is called Bleach Kombat month where 23 fighters from both Bleach & Mortal Kombat will duel in...MORTAL BLEACH! So every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday ~ MechG & I will be posting + giving verdict in who'd win in a fight. For today's, Monday's, & Wednesday's posts ~ MechG will handpick and verdict the combatants in Mortal Bleach. Without further ado, welcome to our 2nd Fight Night Collaborative Tournament and let's get things started with Yasutora "Chad" Sado from Bleach & Mortal Kombat's very own Jax Briggs. Much like Bleach Fantasy ~ Backstory/Role in Story, Powers/Abilities, & Verdict will be the contributing and deciding factors + MechG's posts are highlighted in Purple and mine in Blue. 'MURICA ~ F*CK YEAH!!!

Backstory/Role (Yasutora "Chad" Sado)

Yasutora "Chad" Sado was born in Okinawa, but was taken by his parents to Mexico at a young age. Following their untimely deaths, Chad was adopted at age 8 to a man believed to be his grandfather named Oscar Joaquin De la Rosa. In his childhood, Chad often got into fights and used his size and stature to his advantage. Oscar did everything in his power to try and dissuade Chad from picking or getting into fights to no avail, but it'd be one day where Sado was in awe of Oscar's intervening of the kid's fathers  who wanted to beat up on Chad. Oscar neither fought nor did he beg for mercy ~ he took the beating until the fathers got tired. Sado questioned Oscar's perseverance, but it was Oscar's medallion that he gave Chad that finally got him to understand that violence was never the key to anything. When he died, Chad swore not to ever fight unless it was to protect others....even if it very life was at stake. Chad returned to Japan where he met Ichigo, a orange-haired punk who saved him from a bunch of thugs. Chad's perseverance is much like Oscar's before his death ~ he needn't put up his fists unless it was to protect others. Ichigo & Chad that fateful day swore to protect one another, have each other's backs, and more importantly ~ fight together their enemies. From then on, Chad would become a pivotal character in Ichigo's life as he learns the means to protect with his fists.

Chad first learned of his powers when saving a parakeet from a Hollow attack. The parakeet had a little boy's soul trapped in it and Chad's bonding with him became a keystone in Chad's resolve in protecting others using his fists. Chad managed to thwart the hollow from going rampant any further and was told by Kisuke Urahara & Yoruichi Shihoin that his powers emerged thanks to his closeness to Ichigo; very much similar to Orihime's powers emerging due to Ichigo's influence. From then on, Chad used his power ~ Brazo Derecha De Gigante (Right Arm of the Giant in English). As he relentless trained, he learned that his arm would soon become both a weapon and shield to protect Ichigo, Orihime, and Uryu rom harm. Upon learning of Rukia's execution, Team Ichigo assembled in order to stop it from taking place. One of Chad's first opponents was Captain Kyoraku Shunsui ~ who later ended up defeating Chad with ease and sparing his life despite being a Ryoka. Chad, alongside Ganju & Uryu, were imprisoned shortly before embarking on saving Rukia from persecution. Much Much later (after fillers), Chad is injured terribly when the Arrancar(s) under Aizen's tutelage start emerging in Karakura town. After this defeat, Chad took it upon himself to train harder, get stronger, and fight with more aggression while still having the resolve to protect others. Chad, along with Ichigo & Uryu, enter Hueco Mundo to save Orihime's life where we learn Chad's other arm ~ Brazo Izquierda Del Diablo (Left Arm of the Devil) and his Brazo Derecha De Gigante have gotten stronger and have improved much in his training. Chad managed to defeat Privaron Espada, Gantenbainne Mosqueda, bur was weak compared to 5th Espada, Nnoitra Gilga. Soon after Chad was healed, he continued to ward off any other threats that were deemed dangerous to Team Ichigo + his allies. Sometime after the timeskip, Chad is nowhere to be seen until it is revealed that the Fullbringers recruited him. With Tsukishima's abilities + Ginjo's master plan ~ Chad was at ends with protecting + fighting Ichigo. After the Fullbringer Arc, Chad, now back to being Ichigo's ally, is getting ready for the upcoming war between the Quincy & Shinigami. 

Backstory/Role (Jax Briggs)

Little was known about Jax’s early life or his life in the actual military. His backstory as a Special Forces member was emphasized in the awful Mortal Kombat: Special Forces spinoff where he worked with Gemini, his female partner before Sonya to track down Kano and members of the Black Dragon and bring him to justice. Before pursuing Kano after Kano and the Black Dragon murdered his whole squad, he received bionic implants on his arms to enhance his strength. Jax managed to track down Kano in Outworld. He defeated Kano and brought him back to Earthrealm and secured an artifact called the Eye of Chitian, an artifact that allows travel between realms.

Prior to MK2, Jax stumbles across Johnny Cage who was within Special Forces HQ vicinity and brought him into interrogation about the whereabouts of Sonya and Kano. Cage explains the events of the Mortal Kombat tournament held in Shang Tsung’s mythical island, but Jax doesn’t buy into his story. Jax receives a transmission from Sonya that she and Kano are pinned down by Outworld’s forces commanded by Shao Kahn and the two were captured as ransom for the Earthrealm forces to enter Outworld to compete in the tournament and Jax volunteered to be a participant representing Earthrealm and affiliating himself with the Forces of Light formed by the thunder god, Raiden. After Shao Kahn was defeated by Liu Kang, Jax frees Sonya and Kano, but arrested Kano again. He played minor roles in MK3 and in MK4, but he became the head officer of the Outer World Investigation Agency (OIA) after saving Earthrealm from Shao Kahn’s extermination squads in MK3 and helped restore Cyrax’s humanity and also helped Sonya take down the last known Black Dragon member, Jarek in MK4. In Deadly Alliance, Jax joined Raiden, Kitana, and the rest of the Earthrealm warriors to exact revenge against Quan Chi and Shang Tsung for killing Liu Kang. Jax had personal revenge on his mind too after hearing that OIA member, Hsu Hao betrayed the agency and nuked the HQ. Jax brutally killed Hsu Hao, but later succumbed to the Deadly Alliance along with the rest of the Earthrealm warriors in the final battle. In Deception/ Unchained, the Dragon King, Onaga revived Jax and the fallen Earthrealm warriors to serve under his will, but they were eventually freed by Liu Kang’s zombified spirit and stuck it to the Dragon King in the final battle. In Armageddon, Jax was seen fighting Quan Chi in the ultimate war between good and evil, matching wits with the necromancer before Shao Kahn hit him from behind like a grand slam home run with his hammer. Not going to emphasize Jax’s role in MK9 because it is set in an alternate timeline and that setting is still ongoing with the announcement of MKX.

Powers/Abilities (Yasutora "Chad" Sado)

Due to Ichigo's influence, Chad was able to possess powers of his own ~ The Right Arm of the Giant (3 forms) & the Left Arm of the Devil. However, even before Chad had powers ~ he was durable, being able to take beating and not complain otherwise because of his oath to not use his fists for violence. With Chad's Fullbring (explained in Fullbringer arc), both his arms act as an offensive mechanism in which he can fire spiritual energy blasts that really pack a punch to his enemies. His Right Arm of the Giant's true form is a defensive shield whereas the Left Arm of the Devil acts as a powerful attack that managed to defeat Gantenbainne with one punch. By conjuring up spiritual pressure in both his arms, it acts as a offensive and defensive combination of kick ass & take over. Though Chad's arms have gotten stronger, it doesn't excuse the fact that he got his @$$ kicked many times. Chad's durability is what saved him countless times, but when it comes to lesser known enemies ~ his Right Arm of the Giant & Left Arm of the Devil truly are a deadly combination. 

Powers/Abilities (Jax Briggs)

We all know Jax is an experienced fighter due to his time serving in the armed forces. In terms of power and strength, Jax is one of the powerful Earthrealm warriors out of Raiden’s Forces of Light with or without his bionic arms. With his bionic arms, his physical attributes just ascend to another level. Aside from brute strength, Jax possesses great mental toughness and focus and shows that he has brains too working as a technician and scientist. He researched and tested means of transportation in between the realms and as evidenced in his role in story, reprogrammed Cyrax’s cybernetic CPU to restore the humanity of the former Lin Kuei ninja. His fighting styles are Muay Thai (Deadly Alliance, Unchained, Armageddon) and Judo (Deadly Alliance, Unchained) and his weapons used (besides his bionic arms) are a spiked club (MK4), Tonfa (Deadly Alliance, Unchained, Armageddon), and the machine gun (Deadly Alliance, Armageddon). I won’t list out all his move sets, but I’ll emphasize on his notable moves (same goes for future MK characters). His notable moves are the Energy Wave, where he fires a sonic boom-type wave at his opponent with one arm, the Ground Pound, where Jax puts his fist in the ground and unleashes deadly seismic waves and vibration on opponents, the “Gotcha” Grab, where he grabs the opponent by the throat area, says “Gotcha” and punches away to the face, the Missile, in which Jax shoots missiles from his bionic arms, and the Multi-Slam, in which he grabs his opponent’s whole body and tosses him/her to the ground multiple times without letting go. His notable Fatalities are the Head Clap, crushing his opponent’s head with his bare hands, the Arm Rip, violently ripping his opponent’s arms off, the Boot Squash, growing the size of giant and stomping his opponent like a bug, and the Slice-N-Dice, transforming his bionic arms into blades and using them to slice apart an opponent.

Verdict (By MechG)

And the winner is...

Okay after evaluating the two, there’s no denying that these two are as strong as f*ck and you don’t want to mess with them, but if I had to choose between the two, I have to go with Jax. In terms of storyline, both don’t play too much of a role, but Jax has a very valuable role not just as the brute power guy of Raiden’s Forces of Light, but as a tactician/strategist, someone who provides intel on impending invasions from other realms on Earthrealm, especially against the forces of Outworld and the Netherrealm, he’s the head of the OIA for a reason. As for Chad, I feel he’s not too much of a contributor in Ichigo’s group, he’s the guy who lets Uryu, Orihime, and Ichigo do all the laundry work and then he just comes in whenever to bail them out (what a freeloader). Jax displays a balance of brute force and brains in terms of characteristics, which is something you don’t see every day because it’s stereotypical that the brutes are strong, but dumb and the brains are smart, but weak; Jax is a rare case where I feel Chad only displays brute force. In terms of powers/abilities, I think Jax’s experience in the military force and the fact that he’s so strong without his bionic arms edges Chad in that category because it doesn’t matter if you’re big, strong, or can withstand hits, if you try to pick a fight with a guy who trained and served in the military and you don’t have any prior experience in fighting, you’re gonna get your @$$ kicked pretty fast. Chad had to develop his fighting skills where Jax’s fighting skills are already polished. In conclusion, in my opinion, JAX WINS, FLAWLESS VICTORY. ‘MURICA!
