VS.
AW YEAH, another cat-fight and gentlemen, prepare for anuses because your balls will surely drop. 2 Rounds ago, we had the sexy Jade match wits against Yoruichi and it ended in Bleach's favor. This week, these 2 battle vixens will go toe-to-toe to determine whose the better fighter ~ Lieutenant Sonya Blade of Earth-realm's Outer World Investigation Agency & member of the Special Forces Unit vs. The Commander of the Stealth Force & 2nd Division Captain of the Gotei 13: Sui-Feng (formerly spelled Soifon). Let's get this show on the road. As of July 9th, Mortal Kombat is leading 2-1 against Bleach.
Backstory/Role (Sui-Feng)
Sui-Feng is born into the Feng house, a lower class noble family that is affiliated with the Shihoin household. She, at a tender young age, is sworn to protect Yoruichi Shihoin, Captain of the 2nd division & Stealth forces. Her admiration for Yoruichi is unrivaled and it wouldn't be long before she disappeared alongside Kisuke Urahara, Tessai, & the Visored (Captains/Lieutenants of the 5th, 7th, 8th, & 9th divisions). Sui-Feng was unaware of why her mentor had abandoned her, but felt betrayed and a deep hatred resurfaced from Sui-Feng's heart. She devoted her life to becoming stronger than Yoruichi and hopes to end her because of the betrayal and wound she had left on Sui-Feng at a young age. It wouldn't be until later where she became the 2nd Division Captain and was in charge of the Stealth forces - the little girl who served under the 2nd Division now has become the Captain. Later on, Sui-Feng & Yoruichi would reunite and she would uncover the truth - her admiration and love for Yoruichi was simply too strong for Sui-Feng to overcome. Eventually, Sui-Feng took part in aiding Yoruich in fighting off the Arrancars led by Aizen Sousuke (where Sui-Feng herself was able to handle Baraggan w/Hachigen, but not Aizen). Her siding with Yoruichi is partly due to Yoruichi's friendship to our main hero, Ichigo Kurosaki. She is last seen participating in the bloodbath between the Shinigami & Sternritter where she matched wits with BG9.
Backstory/Role (Sonya Blade)
A Special Forces
Lieutenant, Sonya Blade and her team were in hot pursuit of the Black Dragon
leader Kano and followed him to a ship that lead to Shang Tsung’s island. Sonya
and her team were ambushed by Shang Tsung’s personal vanguards and in order to
spare her team’s lives, Sonya agreed to compete in the Mortal Kombat tournament
representing Earthrealm in exchange for team. However, Shang Tsung didn’t live
up to his end of the bargain and had her whole squad slaughtered. Sonya
sometime during the tournament developed a camaraderie with both Liu Kang and
Johnny Cage and the three sworn an oath to protect Earthrealm from any danger possible.
During the final battle, Liu Kang battled Shang Tsung and Sonya along with
Johnny Cage and her despised nemesis, Kano battled Goro. In between MK1 and MK2, Sonya and Kano were captured by Shang Tsung and were taken
prisoner to appease the Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn and to force the Earthrealm
warriors to compete in Outworld. Sonya was eventually rescued by her comrade
Jax after Liu Kang defeated the Emperor. During the invasion of Earthrealm in MK3, Sonya was one of the chosen
warriors whose soul was spared after Kahn and his forces slaughtered almost the
whole of humanity. During MK3, she
battled Kano once again, this time Sonya had Kano killed leg grabbing him off
the rooftop. In MK4, Sonya was in hot
pursuit of the last Black Dragon member, Jarek and rejoined Liu Kang, Raiden,
and Jax to Edenia to battle the Fallen Elder God Shinnok. In Deadly Alliance, she heeded Raiden’s
call again to battle Shang Tsung and Quan Chi’s alliance while searching for
OIA agents, Kenshi and Cyrax, however she succumbed along with Jax, Johnny
Cage, Kung Lao, and Kitana in battling the Deadly Alliance in Outworld. She was
revived by Onaga to serve under his will in Deception
before Liu Kang’s spirit freed her, Kitana, and the rest of the Earthrealm
warriors from the Dragon King’s control. During Konquest mode in Armageddon, Sonya encountered the
half-blood Taven while searching for Sektor and she took part in the all-out
war between good and evil and died during the battle (in the intro of MK9, it was revealed she was torn in
half).
Powers/Abilities (Sui-Feng)
Sui-Feng has relentlessly trained and tired herself out in hopes to one day surpass her former Captain, Yoruichi Shihoin. Her Zanpaktou, Suzumebachi (translated as Hornet), allows her to pierce opponents, leaving a mark, and when pierced in the same spot as the mark, completely eliminates anyone. The 2-step kill makes it hard for opponents to discern where Sui-Feng will strike and, if marked, will find it difficult to comprehend when she'll strike. Sui-Feng, when fighting Ggio, used this technique and, despite Ggio being a larger opponent, Sui-Feng still did him away with Suzumebachi. Not only is her Suzumebachi strong and fatal, but she has a Bankai - Jakuho Raikoben, which pretty much limits her agility and focuses on eliminating the opponent - firing a missile pretty much, an explosive and fatal attack. Apart from her agility and her Zanpaktou, she has recently mastered Shunko, which is a combination of hand-to-hand combat & Kido. Sui-Feng may be able to finish her opponent quickly, but it's the ability to do in 2-steps that makes her a formidable opponent
Powers/Abilities (Sonya Blade)
In terms of
abilities, Sonya is emphasized on great agility and speed. She is agile and a
quick, yet effective striker due to her training in the Special Forces, not to
mention she is the only Earthrealm female fighter to be a part of Raiden’s
chosen warriors and she is one of the strongest female fighters out of not just
Earthrealm, but in all the realms. Her fighting styles are Kenpo (Deadly Alliance) and Tae Kwon Do (Deadly Alliance, Armageddon) and her weapon of choices are the wind blade (MK4) and kali sticks (Deadly Alliance, Armageddon). Sonya can manipulate fire and purple-colored aura
energy, allowing her to fire Energy Rings and blow kisses that flame up and
burn the opponent’s whole body. Her fatality is based on blowing deadly kisses,
aside from the flames, there’s a variation where she blows a kiss with a
poisonous mist having her opponent vomit three times before she crushes his/her
head with her boot. Other moves include her famous Leg Grab, grabbing the
opponent with her legs and flipping him/her on his/her back and the bicycle
kick (basically a vertical version of Liu Kang’s bicycle kick) where Sonya
kicks her opponents upwards.
Verdict (By Stillmattic)
And the winner is...
After evaluating these two, it's safe to assume that they can kick our candy @$$e$ with ease. Flowers and a box of chocolates won't suffice here gentlemen. In terms of story, Sonya Blade clearly has more of a pivotal role in her respective franchise whereas Sui-Feng is a side character and is often pushed to the sidelines while Yoruichi, her master, has the spotlight. However, the deciding factor (for me anyways) was their powers/abilities. Though Sonya Blade is agile, has training under the Special forces, and is versatile in Tae Kwan Do & Kenpo, I'd have to say Sui-Feng takes the cake for one reason: Stealth. I think between these two women, there's no doubt that they're both agile, are well-versed in hand-to-hand combat, and are titled Lieutenant Sonya Blade & Captain Sui-Feng for a reason, but in terms of abilities, I think Sui-Feng clearly has the upper hand because of her status as the Stealth Force commander. Sonya may be fast, but Sui-Feng is faster and that's excluding her Shikai, Bankai, & Shunko. Did I mention Shunko amplifies everything ~ her hand-to-hand combat abilities, Kido, and especially her agility. So Sui-Feng's very abilities are deadly, but add in Shunko and everything she does is twice as fast as what Sonya can do. Sui-Feng's Zanpaktou also can deliver death in 2 moves ~ Can Sonya Blade's agility, martial arts, and manipulation of fire thwart Sui-Feng's ability to attack her twice in the same place? Me no think so, So in terms of story, Sonya Blade has more to offer, but in a battle of martial arts & agility ~ SUI-FENG WINS!
