Bleach Kombat Round 21: Onaga vs. Yhwach (Masters of Evil Pt. II)

VS.

Welcome to Pt. II of the Masters of Evil Trilogy presented and judged by MechG. As I said on Monday's BK post, MechG will also be judging Friday's 22nd BK post and Monday, August 25th, the last BK post will be judged by yours truly. Truly, evil reigns in this week's rounds ~ pursuing domination, imbedding fear into the living, ruling with an iron fist, and above anything else ~ showing off their balls to the whole world that they're the sh*t. Today's 21st BK post is between MK's Onaga and Bleach's Yhwach. Story, Powers/Abilities, & Verdict will be included as usual. The scoreboard, as of August 18th, is Bleach leading MK 11-9. Let's jam!

Story (Yhwach)
Yhwach is the Father of the Quincy (also referred to as Your Majesty) and current major antagonist in Bleach's Thousand Year Blood War Arc. As a child, he could not hear, speak, or even move. Knowing this, Yhwach was fearless and never cried. Those around Yhwach treated him with reverence because upon who touched Yhwach gradually found something that they lacked beforehand. This only happened because Yhwach possessed the power to share out of his soul. Thus, anyone who came in contact with him shared a part of his soul and was able to heal their wounds (that person's own soul could have never done that). Treating him as a special being, Yhwach was always met with people and as he continuously shared out his soul unto everyone - Yhwach's own body became to function. He was able to harness his senses and as a result, he learned of the name people chanted to him - YHWACH. He realized that the very name people gave him is the name of the God that the people worshipped. As said above, he is the Quincy - the founder, creator, and King. His very blood flows unto every living Quincy. 1000 years ago, Yhwach and a man named Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto (Aka the former 1st Head Captain of the Gotei 13) met face-to-face and Yamamoto was unable to deliver the finishing blow unto Yhwach. He is the first person to bear witness to Yamamoto's Bankai - Zanka no Tachi and thus has a thorough understanding of how his Bankai works. Supposedly after the two fought, Yhwach lost his powers. Quincy Folklore suggested that "The Sealed King," after 900 years, would regain consciousness, after 90 ~ regain intellect, and after 9 ~ absorb the power of every "impure" Quincy to make their abilities his very own. As a result of what is known as Auswahlen, Ichigo & Uryu's Mothers died and lost their powers. This leaves Uryu as being the last "impure" Quincy alive. Yhwach reveals that this song (the absorption of "impure" Quincy) is known as Kaiser Gesang (Praise-Song of the Sacred Emperor in Japanese) and has another verse stating that the "Sealed King" will have the world after 9 days. During As Nodt's recovery in the hospital, Yhwach visited him and gave him power and sometime during the 17-month after Aizen's defeat, The Wandenreich conquered Hueco Mundo and currently hold Tier Harribel as hostage ~ using Hueco Mundo as another stepping stone to invading the Soul Society. It is also revealed that Yhwach intends to hire the assistance of former antagonist, Aizen Sousuke, but he turned down the offer. As of now: Ichigo Kurosaki, Kenpachi Zaraki, & Aizen Sousuke are known as the special war potentials. It is also revealed that the manifestation of Zangetsu that Ichigo saw was, in fact, Yhwach 1000 years ago.

As two Arrancar(s) by the names Luder Friegen & Asuguiaro Ebern served under Yhwach and reported to the Wandenreich base, they were instantly killed for getting into a disagreement and for Asuguiaro failing to detain Ichigo Kurosaki. It is revealed that the Arrancars' deaths will not do any potential damage to the Wandenreich and that their deaths serve more as a stepping stone for the invasion of the Soul Society. While Ichigo is currently fighting Quilge Opie, Yhwach & the Wandenreich take this opportunity to invade the Gotei 13 and reveal a stunning ability - stealing Bankai. As Soul Society is plunged into war, it seems as if the Wandenreich have the upper hand as they stole most of the Captain's Bankai(s) and all that was missing was Captain Yamamoto's. Royd Lloyd, a former Sternritter that has the ability to mimic Yhwach in his entirety, fought and tired out Captain Yamamoto up until his death. With the Head Captain tired and drained after revealing his Bankai, the real Yhwach shows up, steals Captain Yamamoto's Bankai, and mercilessly cuts him down until he is nothing more than ash. Just as Yhwach kills Captain Yamamoto, Ichigo shows up from behind and tries to stop only ~ only for Yhwach to figure out that Ichigo used Blut Vene and stopping the fight from going any further. Aizen Sousuke, the former antagonist, was able to distort Yhwach's senses just a little after their little meeting. Yhwach & the Wandenreich soon retreat while the Gotei 13 recover from their injuries and the huge loss of the Head Captain. As Yhwach summons the Sternritter together, he reveals his successor and also given the letter "A" to be Uryu Ishida. This angers and confuses the Sternritter, but Yhwach still stands by his decision. As the Wandenreich invade the Soul Society again, Yhwach watches as his Sternritter fight the Shinigami (he witnesses both Mask De Masculine & Gremmy's loss). He currently is now within the Royal Palace alongside Jugram & Uryu and is challenging the 0 Division.

Story (Onaga)
Under the cryptic name the Dragon King, Onaga was the true Emperor of Outworld. For millennia, he and his army of the dead were undefeatable, taking down realms one by one and merging them with Outworld. In his quest to gain eternal life, Onaga ordered the last dragon egg to be stored and kept and when it’s ready to hatch, the blood of the infant dragon would grant him eternal life. However, Onaga would not witness the hatching of the egg as his chief advisor Shao Kahn poisoned him and gained the throne of Outworld. This however, would not signify the end of the Dragon King. Some millennia later after Liu Kang defeated Goro in the Mortal Kombat tournament, Onaga communicated in spirit with Shujinko under the avatar, Damashi. Claiming to do the will of the Elder Gods, Onaga convinced Shujinko to bring together the Kamidogu, relics created by the Elder Gods containing the essence of the realms and more so, giving Shujinko the power to absorb fighting styles of warriors he encountered. Shujinko agreed to do Onaga’s bidding and in addition, a surviving holy sect in Outworld dedicated to him was guarding the dragon egg. During the events of the tournament in Outworld, the holy sect captured the elemental Blaze and forced him to guard the egg until it was ready to hatch to revive the Dragon King and restore him to ultimate power.

When the Deadly Alliance of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung was formed years later, they used their sorcery and a Soulnado to transfer the souls of fallen warriors to Onaga’s army, who were in a mummified state entombed dedicated to the Dragon King. After Raiden’s Earthrealm warriors faltered against the alliance, Raiden challenged both sorcerers in Mortal Kombat. During this time, the vampiress, Nitara duped Reptile, luring him into the chamber where the dragon egg is being kept. As soon as Reptile arrived, the dragon egg hatched and sent its energy to him. From there, Onaga was able to use Reptile’s body as a host and transform it into an intimidating stature to that of a dragon, fulfilling the prophecy of his return. With the dissolution of the Deadly Alliance and Quan Chi victorious, Onaga marched into the palace to reclaim his undead army. Onaga then charged at Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, and Raiden whose combined might was not enough to derail the mighty Dragon King. In a last ditch effort, Raiden used all his power to unleash a godly energy blast, but it did little to slow down the Dragon King. With the supposed demise of Shang Tsung, Raiden, and Quan Chi, Onaga had all the Kamidogu in place and possessed Shinnok’s real amulet, revealed to be the last piece of the Kamidogu and was ready to impose his will with his undead army on the realms with the first target being Edenia. Simultaneously, Shujinko realized Onaga’s deception with him and started gathering warriors from all realms to combat Onaga. Shujinko absorbed the fighting styles of every warrior from every realm and came face to face with the Dragon King. Shujinko managed to gain the upper hand, destroying the six Kamidogu. As Shujinko was about to finish off his deceiver, Onaga’s soul separated and the host body reverted back to that of Reptile. Onaga’s soul was banished to the Netherrealm by Nightwolf and remained there for a long time. He was discovered by the fallen Elder God Shinnok and proposed an alliance with him to gain his help in exchange to restore his power to Outworld’s throne. Shinnok detailed Onaga about Blaze and whoever defeated the powerful elemental in battle would gain great power. Shinnok proposed that Onaga ally with Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, and Shao Kahn to give him a greater chance at ultimate power. Onaga distrusted the Elder God at first, but with no other alternatives to escape the Netherrealm, he agreed and was sent back to Outworld to meet with them. During the battle of Armageddon, Onaga chose revenge over Blaze’s power and grabbed Shao Kahn with his bare dragon hands for his betrayal long ago and flew away with him. However, Shao Kahn would escape the Dragon King’s grasp and ultimately win Armageddon, leaving Onaga’s fate unknown.

Powers/Abilities (Yhwach)
Being the Creator & Leader of a group of species known as the Quincy, Yhwach's very spiritual power SURPASSES that of an Espada (as seen when Tier Harribel is held hostage as she utterly lost to him) and he is the only one able to wield Captain Yamamoto's Bankai. He is also a expert swordsman, being able to repel a Captain in combat and, as said above, is known for his soul distribution ~ having others share a part of his soul, drink his blood, and in doing so - gets stronger and lives longer. If, however, he does not do this ~ then of course he becomes weakened. Like any other Quincy, he is also able to absorb and solidify reishi just from everything in the Soul Society, use Blut Vene (a defense mechanism that repels attacks when skin is under attack), Hirenkyaku (Quincy's version of Sonido or Shunpo to move incredibly fast), has enhanced strength/durability/agility, & is a hand-to-hand combatant that was able to repel Ichigo's attacks and escape unscathed. With any Quincy, Yhwach is able to fire arrows without the use of an actual bow or weapon that was able to kill Captain Yamamoto and his very own reishi broadsword that was enough to cut Captain Yamamoto in two.

Powers/Abilities (Onaga)

Befitting that of the Dragon King and the true supreme ruler of Outworld, Onaga is one of the most powerful beings in the MK universe. Though the full extent of his powers is not known, he possesses immeasurable supernatural strength and is resistant to all types of magic. Onaga also had the ability to raise the dead, hence why his army was the most dominant army the realms have ever seen for millennia. As mentioned, Shao Kahn poisoned him stealthily as to oppose to fighting him one on one because it is indicated that Shao Kahn feared Onaga’s immense strength and Onaga possessed enough immeasurable powers to easily decimate those who stood in his way, even Shao Kahn. In possession of the Kamidogu, Onaga became a juggernaut among juggernauts that any direct one on one confrontation with him in combat was impossible and would’ve resulted in the worst outcome possible. This was indicated as Onaga was charging at Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Raiden. Even though Tsung and Quan were the two most powerful sorcerers and Raiden being the thunder god that he is possessing godly powers, their combined might wasn’t enough to derail Onaga one bit and Raiden’s sacrificial blast did little damage on him. It took every fighter from all the realms, whether good or evil to fight as a united front and transfer their fighting styles to Shujinko, so Shujinko could use all the power from all the realms’ great warriors to challenge Onaga one on one. As a dragon, automatically Onaga can breathe fire and has the ability to fly using his massive dragon wings. Like Shao Kahn, he is also said to be possessed by the most powerful entity in the MK universe known as the One Being, an entity as powerful as the Elder Gods. This is the reason why Onaga’s essence was omnipresent in the realms even in death. It also the reason why as Damashi, Onaga tasked Shujinko on a quest to find and unite all of the Kamidogu, since it contained the essence of the One Being and the essence of the realms and uniting it along with Shinnok’s amulet (the final piece of the Kamidogu containing the essence of the whole universe) can grant the person ultimate power.

Verdict (By MechG)
And the winner is...

Battle of proven vs. potential right here. It is not hard to automatically pick Yhwach as the victor considering his story arc is still going and his powers/abilities will assumingly get better as his story arc progresses. And yes, Yhwach has killed the most powerful Shinigami in Captain Yamamoto so far. However, let’s take a look at Onaga here: strongest being in the MK universe (2nd only to Blaze)? Check. Able to withstand the combined might of two of the most powerful sorcerers and the almighty thunder god? Check. Able to communicate even in death? Check. You’re so intimidating that you make Shao Kahn look like a pu$$y that he resorted to poisoning you instead of fighting you mano-e-mano? Check. Size of your threat is so big that it even caused the Elder Gods to take action? Check. Size of your threat is so big that it needs to take a united front of good and evil from all the realms to rid you from the universe? Check. I’m not sandbagging on Yhwach or anything, he is after all God to the Quincy and not even the most powerful Shinigami can stand up to him and he has lived through a cycle gaining a lot of power and intelligence. However, Onaga is to the MK universe what Thanos is to the Marvel universe. Thanos was already powerful and when he had the six infinity gems and the infinity gauntlet to unite them, he completely decimated every superhero (X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thor, Hulk) and was powerful enough to take down arguably the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe in the cosmic entities such as Galactus. In Onaga, I see great similarities; he was already a powerful being, but when he had the six Kamidogu artifacts and Shinnok’s amulet to unite them all, he was an unstoppable juggernaut that no warrior could stop him and he was able to match wits with the Elder Gods. Not to mention as I said before, it took a united front of good and evil from all realms to transfer their fighting styles to Shujinko to even come close to confronting him one on one. As a villain, you know you are the BIG BOSS if it takes good and evil characters to take you down. In terms of intimidating stature, would I be afraid of a villain in a human figure with a dark cloak and an intimidating demeanor or would I be afraid of a villain that has the form of a big @$$ dragon that can withstand almost anything like a beast? Yeah I would be more afraid of a big @$$ dragon. ~ ONAGA WINS
