Affinity #82 - An Old Man's Wisdom (Part 3)

With Finals over, it seems I can finally take a breather from school and focus on the blog. From March 10-March 31, I will be discussing 4 pivotal interaction former Captain Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto has had w/both friends & enemies. In the last two, I detailed Captain Yamamoto's interaction with his former Lieutenant, Chojiro Sasakibe, and his former enemy, Aizen Sousuke. Captain Yamamoto was fond of Chojiro's loyalty & his Bankai (with gave Yamamoto that notable scar), but found Aizen's defection and arrogance to be an incredible hindrance to him & the Gotei 13. Today, I detail Yamamoto's fated rival and the man who cut him own personally (R.I.P.), Yhwach. Yhwach currently poses a considerable threat to the Gotei 13 as he was able to kill of Captain Yamamoto AND stop the almost indestructible Kenpachi Zaraki. Many years before the start of the series, the Shinigami & Quincy have had some sort of rivalry that ended with Captain Yamamoto making the grave mistake of failing to kill the Leader of the Quincy, Yhwach. Irony seems to strike Captain Yamamoto as he is struck down by the very man he failed to kill many years ago. Cut in half and burned alive, Captain Yamamoto was no match for Yhwach. Beforehand, Captain Yamamoto was fighting a 'clone' of Yhwach, Yhwach's underline was able to replicate Yhwach's power, but not retain his composure. When the 'clone' was stricken with fear from Yamamoto's banaki, you knew that things couldn't be that easy. The clone died, the real Yhwach appeared, and struck down the severalty weakened old man. Bitter to the end, Yhwach's killing of the Head Captain greatly took a toll on the Gotei 13. However, this didn't stop the Gotei 13 from giving up the fight. If anything, Captain Yamamoto's memory will linger on and stopping Yhwach will be in his memory.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Affinity post. Look forward to Affinity posts on Tuesdays. Until then, you all stay classy now.
