What would you do if you were in possession of God-like control? Would you cast down judgment on those who've hurt you or try to purify the world with peace, prosperity, hope, & love? Well, if you haven't guessed it, today's Legacy post is on the renowned Shonen series: Death Note. Debuting on Manga from 2003-2006 and debuting a 37 episode Anime series in 2006-2007, Death Note became a phenomenon amongst Anime fans. Combining Detective Fiction, Psychological Thriller, & the Supernatural, Death Note truly delivers with its story folding, engaging characters, and dilemmas that its keeps us guessing what may/may not happen. I, for one, was able to watch it when it premiered and I have to say, it's pretty damn interesting. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a 'masterpiece,' but it's a pretty interesting Dilemma for the characters surrounding the story. This is why I asked that question in the beginning ~ would you try to purify or justify peace by bringing ruination or finding some sort of alternative. With the main character, he tries justifying peace & prosperity by casting judgement on the powerful and less fortunate. By playing the role of 'God,' he subjected himself into madness with the grasp of control he had at the palm of his hands. This undesirable quench of 'justice' managed to get the better of him as he succumbed to death at the hands of his own ambitions; the world cannot cast right from wrong by a notebook. That notebook, let me tell you, is a dangerous artifact that no human should ever get their hands on. The consequences are limitless and the power is too much for one person to handle. Death Note, in my opinion, is a great Anime series for those of the thriller, supernatural, and fiction genres.
I hope you enjoyed this week's Legacy post. Look forward to Legacy posts on Thursdays. Until then, you all stay classy now. Tomorrow is MIKandIK3 and I's first SGABR post (Bleach vs. Fairy Tail) + Throwback post.
