Affinity #94 - A Unforgettable Memory (Rukia, Homura, & Shizuku)

Welcome Back to another installment of Affinities where I cover Bleach relationships/friendships. We are on the 94th, which means 6 more to go. It's been a long road paved for Affinity posts, it's one of my longest-running segments next to WBCRs & Throwbacks. However, I digress. This week's Affinity is probably one of the most tragic ones to date considering it's a real tear-jerker for fans that watched Fade to Black (Bleach Movie 3). We go into a little backstory behind Rukia meeting this two, given the names Homura & Shizuku by Rukia herself. Possessing unique teleportation abilities, Rukia sought after them for quite some time. However, everything would change when the siblings were attacked by a Shinigami who was possessed by a Hollow. This Hollow was about to hurt Rukia, but before any more damage can be done, the siblings absorbed the Hollow and teleported away to Hueco Mundo. It would be 100 years later where the siblings wanted to see Rukia again because they have had a profound influence on them. Rukia's very existence became but a memory to the Gotei 13 as Shizuki, with his scythe, was able to manipulate Rukia's memories; altering not only her thoughts, but also affecting those around her. It's with this scenario that Ichigo has to remind everyone of Rukia and to help bring a stop to Homura & Shizuku's possession of Rukia. To be honest, when I saw their deaths at the end, I was sad for Rukia because we genuinely see her get emotional over the loss of these two. Rukia was also the one who gave them their names (on how, I do not know) and it's because she remembered it that that it made the scene all the more dramatic ~ Rukia died remembering who they were. Also, take into account that the siblings aren't very antagonistic ~ they wanted Rukia for themselves because they genuinely cared for her to the point that they didn't want her to be around anyone else. Overall, this Affinity, though sweet, ended abruptly and as much as I loved Fade to Black, I loved how it delved into Rukia's backstory. Whenever we learn more of a character that I'm invested in (Rukia after all is the reason why Bleach came to be), that's two thumbs up. You will be missed Homura & Shizuki, you'll never be forgotten by Rukia.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Affinity. Look forward to Affinity posts for 6 more weeks. Until then, stay classy Bleach Fans. Word of note, The Golden State Warriors are our NBA 2015 Champions. #Dubnation #Warriorsground
