Bleach Kombat Round 16: Goro vs. Kenpachi Zaraki (Clash at Demonhead!)

VS.

A Champion. A Demon. A Monster. A Thug. A Warrior. A Madman. These are the words to describe our next combatants. Both respected and feared by warriors alike, these two are at the top of their peak. Respectfully, these are are merciless warriors who've used their brute strength and ferocity to pummel their opponents. One is a four-armed demon with a ponytail and the other is a monster with an eyepatch. Today's Round is between MK's Goro & Bleach's Kenpachi Zaraki. The victor will be decided by yours truly and the following will be incorporated: Story, Powers/Abilities, & Verdict. The scoreboard, as of August 6h, is Bleach leading MK 8-7. Let's jam!

Story (Kenpachi Zaraki)
Prior to becoming the 11th Captain of the Gotei 13 or heck, even before meeting his future Lieutenant, Kenpachi was born in the lawless district in the North Valley of Rukongai - Zaraki. As a child, he took it upon himself to take the Zanpaktou of a already dead Shinigami and implanted his soul upon it to make it officially his. His renowned swordsmanship improved overtime as he garnered the attention of then 11th Division Captain & current "Kenpachi," Yachiru Unohana. This was the first fight Zaraki felt anxious and fearful of his life, but later came to admire and respect her. Sometime later, he met a little girl and named her after his admirer and the district she was born in - Yachiru Kusajishi. He, alongside Yachiru, also met Ikkaku & Yumichika, now forming the current 11th Division. Zaraki Kenpachi took it upon himself to kill the current "Kenpachi" and became the new 11th Division Captain. During his time as a Captain, he was trained in the art of Kendo by then Captain-Commander, Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto.

At the very beginning of the Rescue Arc, Kenpachi Zaraki was one of Ichigo's opponents (the first two being against Ikkaku & Renji). The two fought valiantly and it came out to be a draw, but Kenpachi, admiring Ichigo's strength and tenacity, gave him the victor. Sometime after recovering, Kenpachi aids Ichigo's team in saving Rukia and challenged Kaname & Komamura, putting both his life & rank at state in aiding Ichigo's cause to rescue Rukia. It wouldn't be long before the Soul Society has to face its new enemy - Aizen Sousuke & his army of Arrancars. Kenpachi, alongside Byakuya, was forced to take-back Captain Hitsugaya's squadron as to prevent further assistance in Ichigo's rescuing of Orihime. However, deep down, Kenpachi could care less about orders as he, Byakuya, Unohana, & Kurotsuchi enter Hueco Mundo and fight against the Espada. Here, Kenpachi fought valiantly against Nnoitra. Kenpachi almost lost his life, but he remembers the Old Man (Yamamoto) teaching him Kendo. Utilizing what he taught from the Old Man, Kenpachi subdues Nnoitra. After Aizen's defeat, the Soul Society has to deal with its new enemy - the Wandenreich, led by Yhwach. Kenpachi easily defeats 3 Stern Ritters, but lost terribly to Yhwach as he holds him by the neck, almost lifeless. It wasn't until later where Captain Kyoraku, now 1st Division Captain after Yamamoto's death, tells the Central 46 that Yachiru Unohana will train Zaraki Kenpachi in the art of fighting. The two Kenpachi(s) fight with Zaraki ending up winning against his former admirer, but is saddened by her loss as it is the most entertaining fight he's ever had. He hears a voice coming from his Zanpaktou, now being able to communicate with it as he could never had in the past. It is recently revealed that he learned of his Zanpaktou's name - Nozarashi after having fought against Gremmy "The Visionary Thoumeaux and nearly saving Yachiru's life (although her whereabouts are unknown). However, before Kenpachi had anytime time to relax after Gremmy dug his own grave, the TGPZ Sisters (Thunderbolt, Glutton, Power, & Zombie) arrived, did considerable damage to both KEnpachi & his squadron, and is left on the floor - weakened by the combined efforts of the enemy attacks. Ichigo shows up in aiding the weakened Kenpachi

Story (Goro)
Born to the mighty, four-armed Shokan race, Goro was Shang Tsung’s greatest student and was chosen to represent Outworld in Mortal Kombat and was tasked to defeat its champion, the Great Kung Lao as means of revenge for Shang Tsung’s loss. Goro succeeded in defeating the great Shaolin Monk, killing him, allowing Tsung to consume his soul. For 500 years, Goro had established complete dominance over the tournament, successfully defending his title as Grand Champion for a total of 9 consecutive MK tournaments. If he were to win the 10th tournament, he would seal the deal for Outworld and its emperor, Shao Kahn to claim Earthrealm. However, Goro’s winning streak came to shocking halt after he was defeated at the hands of a promising Shaolin Monk in Liu Kang. While Liu Kang dueled Shang Tsung, Goro took on the combined forces of Kano, Sonya, and Johnny Cage, though his fate was unknown and was believed to be dead. It was assumed Goro went into hiding as he reappeared during Shinnok’s invasion of Edenia and instead of avenging his loss, he took part in joining his fellow Shokan race in a war against the Centaurians. However, Kitana had plans to veto the incoming war and insists that both Shokans and Centaurians make truce with each other. Goro was one of the primary figures during the negotiations, but before the former Grand Champion signs anything, he was struck by Kung Lao, as a sign for revenge for the Great Kung Lao’s death but wasn’t killed as both buried the hatchet. After Shinnok’s defeat, Goro and the Shokans pledged allegiance with the Edenians and made peace with the Centaurians. With Shao Kahn weakened and the forces of Outworld still decimated from the invasion of Earthrealm, a united front of the Shokans and Edenians took advantage and marched to Outworld. However, Goro was exhausted from battle and apparently was struck down by Noob Saibot. A funeral was held for him, but he survived and was healed by Shao Kahn. To repay Kahn’s debt, Goro defected, secretly cutting ties with his fellow Shokan race, the Edenians, and the Centaurians while covering up his “death” to return to Kahn’s side. Goro, along with Shang Tsung, helped Shao Kahn regain his throne in Outworld defeating  Mileena and the Edenian army. Later, he encountered the half-blood Taven on his quest, but was defeated during the battle. He partook in the Battle of Armageddon and died some time. In the alternate timeline, he took the same role, serving Shao Kahn and being Grand Champion of MK before being defeated by Liu Kang.

Powers/Abilities (Kenpachi Zaraki)
Prior to becoming a full-fledged Captain, he was renowned in swordsmanship - testing out his blade to any who oppose him. Even as a kid, Yachiru Unohana, the former 11th Division Captain & 1st Kenpachi, said that she was too much for Zaraki. As a Captain, Zaraki Kenpachi learned Kendo from Captain Yamamoto - amplifying his spirit energy a lot more than when he just used one arm in swinging his sword. Kenpachi's Zanpaktou is always in its Shikai state - amplifying his Spirit energy to the point where he has become a feared and renowned Captain. He was able to take-on both Kaname Tosen & Sajin Komamura in their Bankai states and this was way before he used Kendo on Nnoitra or found out that his Zanpaktou finally communicated with him. In fighting Yachiru Unohana to the death, he unlocked his true power and resolve. One of Kenpachi's strongest attributes is his ability to endure blow by blow by his opponents - having enhanced endurance, durability, and strength in combat. Much like a brick wall, it'll take a lot before it can truly be toppled. His Reiatsu truly is unruly when it comes to combat - exerting everything when his eyepatch is off (which conceals his Spirit Energy). As a Captain, he is one of the strongest in representing the Gotei 13. As said before, Kenpachi learned of his Zanpaktou's real name ~ Nozarashi. Although its abilities are unknown, it was able to cut down the Meteorite that Gremmy imagined and anything and everything that stood in its path. It's a huge-@$$ blade that can pretty much cut through any object.

Powers/Abilities (Goro)
Surprisingly, a full extent of Goro’s powers/abilities is not known throughout the MK franchise. His 9 tournament wins is probably the most impressive winning streak in the franchise’s storyline surrounding the Mortal Kombat tournament. The only known hint on how strong Goro is or any signs of his powers/abilities is that it needed more than one person to defeat him without being challenged to Mortal Kombat, hence why it took Kano, Sonya, and Johnny Cage’s combined might to bring him down. Goro may be strong considering possessing immense strength, but he surprisingly has decent agility. His weapon of choice are Dragon Fangs, which resemble gauntlets, but he also specializes in swords as seen in Shao Kahn’s Deception ending when he stabbed Onaga with poison-bladed swords. Like all Shokans, Goro can manipulate fire and either shoot it from his hands or his mouth and could manipulate it with his four hands if he wishes so.

Verdict (By Stillmattic)
And the winner is...
So we got a Four-Armed Warrior who has impressive strength/agility, can manipulate fire, and is skilled with his renowned Dragon fangs & swords. And then we have Kenpachi ~ a Demon whose very blade can literally cut through anything such as....I don't know....A F*CKING METEORITE. In terms of story, Kenpachi is more fleshed out than Goro and, to be perfectly honest, Kenpachi Zaraki can mop the floor with Goro because he's just gonna cut off all 4 arms, behead him, and use his body as a punching bag. Now it is true that Goro has dominated MK for 500 years after having been trained under Shang Tsung, but Kenpachi, since he was a little kid, has dominated everyone ~ even the greatest threat to the Gotei 13 - The 1st Kenpachi. IF a little kid can be stronger than the 1st Kenpachi (also a Captain-class Shinigami), then I think that little kid can stand on par with a giant like Goro. It took 3 mofos to take down a Giant whereas it took 1 mofo to take down Kenpachi, but....Kenpachi is already a big @$$ threat with his eyepatch on; just imagine how much stronger he is without it. Goro is also serving under Shang Tsung/Shao Khan whereas Kenpachi is literally a one-man wolf pack. He got his own crew (Squad), but he doesn't give 2 sh*ts about them so long as they live and die for the fight. A bloodthirsty demon born unto this world with nothing but the sight of death has more of an impact that a Giant whose service to Shang Tsung became the stepping stone to his success. Now it is true Kenpachi has had his fair share of losses, but even his opponents that he lost to are batsh*t scared of the one and only victor....KENPACHI ZARAKI WINS!
