Bleach Kombat Round 17: Kitana vs. Orihime Inoue (Big-BEEWBED Heroines)

VS.

If there's a hero, there's always a heroine by their side as a potential love interest. Heroines, much like Heroes, come in big and small packages and OH BOY do these two fine @$$ women have big assets. These beauties are no pushovers ~ confident, brave, resilient, and they're on our side. One uses Fans not only to fight the heat, but as weapons that can cut men into pieces (this is my last resort!) whereas Orihime's powers are godlike abilities that reject phenomena by undoing/denying events. Today's Round is between MK's sexyilious Kitana and Bleach's beewbilious Orihime Inoue. The victor will be decided by yours truly and the following will be incorporated: Story, Powers/Abilities, & Verdict. The scoreboard, as of August 8th, is Bleach leading MK 9-7. Let's jam!

Story (Orihime Inoue)
Where do I begin with this one? Aside from Orihime being one of the main characters and Ichigo's love interest, Orihime has been a central figure since the beginning of Bleach. Orihime would soon develop her own powers and be spiritually aware thanks to the influence of Ichigo (much like how Tatsuki, Keigo, and Mizuiro are now spiritually aware). Orihime, in a nutshell, is a funny gal, but is naive and at times clueless. She is often described as weird, but nurturing and caring. Orihime is a mixed bag of responsibility and childishness. Orihime's upbringing wasn't the best - raised by a drunken father and a prostitute mother, the two parents bickered and constantly abused their children, Sora & Orihime. It wouldn't be long before Sora and Orihime run away together and Sora becomes the paternal figure in Orihime's life. Orihime, however, was far from safe as she was constantly bullied at school for her orange-colored hair. One day, Orihime was given hairpins by her brother, but at first thought they looks childish. However, the same day she got into an argument with her brother about the hairpins, Orihime's brother died. As a result, Orihime wears the hairpins her brother gave her everyday. She wanted to showcase that she'll be happy from now on as she prayed for her brother everyday. However, after meeting Ichigo and making friends at Karakura Town, she suddenly stopped praying to her brother ~ which greatly angered him as Sora was turned into a Hollow and attacked Orihime, nearly killing her in the process. This is where Orihime first was spiritually aware as Ichigo saves her. As a result, she gained her own powers and fended off her first Hollow and managed to save Tatsuki as a result. Since then, Orihime owes Ichigo and remains as one of Ichigo's faithful friends and allies ~ helping him out, tending to his wounds, and being a member of Team Ichigo (alongside Chad & Uryu).

Orihime first helps out as a member of Team Ichigo when trying to save Rukia. She practiced and trained with Yoruichi to harness and have control of her powers - Shun Shun Rika. She didn't play much of a role since Ichigo, Chad, & Uryu were doing all the heavy-lifting. Excluding the fillers, Orihime plays a pivotal role in the Arrancar & Hueco Mundo Arc, being praised for her "God-like abilities" as well as being used as bait for the Gotei 13 to abandon Ichigo in his hopes to rescue her. Before Orihime was threatened by the 4th Espada to leaving for Las Noches, she paid one last visit to Ichigo and says if she had 5 lives - all would in love for Ichigo (BEST ICHIHIME MOMENT EVER!) Orihime then is held hostage under Lord Aizen and is constantly at ends with various Arrancar including Nnoitra, Loly & Menoly, Grimmjow, & Ulquiorra especially. After seeing Team Ichigo rescue her, she becomes weary of their safety, especially Ichigo. Ichigo found valiantly against Grimmjow & Ulquiorra, but his hollowfication and close-to-death managed to scare Orihime as she warned him to not fight anymore and to protect himself. Listening to the damsel in distress's words, Ichigo calmed down and it wouldn't be long before all the Espada were taken down in Hueco Mundo & Fake Karakura Town. Orihime constantly worries over Ichigo's safety and she herself has proven to be the glue that holds Team Ichigo together. After Aizen's imprisonment, Orihime reappears in the Fullbringer Arc and, alongside Chad, is tricked by Tsukishima into thinking that they've known him for years now ~ implanting fake memories. Aside from not playing much of a role (since her main role was taken up in the Hueco Mundo Arc), she reappears in the current arc as a support and is doing anything she can to assist in the upcoming war + to bring Uryu to the good guys by wearing a very scandalous outfit that made Chad & Ichigo question ~ Why?

Story (Kitana)
Born into Edenia’s royal family of King Jerrod and Queen Sindel, Kitana didn’t know too much about her parents when Shao Kahn invaded the realm, killed Jerrod, took Sindel as his wife (though she committed suicide), and took the young princess as his own. Kitana spent the rest of her life growing up as Shao Kahn’s “daughter” and was trained to become a deadly assassin under the Emperor’s guide. Shao Kahn feared Kitana would learn about her true past so he ordered Shang Tsung to create a more grotesque clone of her, creating Mileena. Kitana later found out about her real past and though she remained loyal to her “father,” she would wait when the time is ripe to usurp him and bring him to justice.

Kitana’s ploy would come when the Earthrealm warriors ventured into Outworld to compete in the tournament. Kitana secretly participated and came into contact with one of the Earthrealm warriors (Liu Kang assumingly, who else?) to discuss her ploy to defeat Shao Kahn, save Earthrealm, and free Edenia from Outworld’s grasp. Kitana’s plan was eventually discovered by Mileena, but Kitana bested her in a one-on-one battle and killed her in the process. As soon as Kahn was defeated, Kitana tried to escape with the Earthrealm warriors, but was captured in the process and sentenced to death for killing Mileena. However, upon the resurrection of her mother Sindel as leverage for Outworld to merge with Earthrealm, Kitana escaped from imprisonment and rejoined Earthrealm’s forces to combat the forces of Outworld and free her mother from Kahn’s spell. Kitana and the Earthrealm warriors did so and Sindel was freed from Shao Kahn’s spell. Sindel and Kitana reunited as mother and daughter and took back Edenia and its royal throne room. The peace would be short-lived as Shinnok, his right hand man Quan Chi, and the forces of the Netherealm invaded Edenia and imprisoned both Kitana and Sindel. Kitana managed to escape and fought against Mileena again, besting her yet again and throwing her into Edenian jail cells. When Shinnok’s forces were defeated by Raiden and Earthrealm’s Forces of Light, Kitana professed her love to Liu Kang and recommended him to sit by her side on the throne of Edenia in which Liu Kang respectfully declined to serve as Earthrealm’s champion. The two would still be intimate to each other. Onto her political affairs in Edenia, Kitana found out that Shao Kahn was weakened and the forces of Outworld demoralized. Kitana saw this as opportunity and became a mediator for peace between the Shokans and Centaurians and asked for them to fight alongside Edenia so they can defeat Kahn once and for all. Kitana and Goro lead the charge, but Goro became wounded in battle by Noob Saibot, putting the battles in a stalemate. After, Kitana had some good news and some bad news as evident in her encounter with Kung Lao. The good news: Shao Kahn was killed, the bad news: a new, Deadly Alliance of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi were responsible, but they also killed Liu Kang and are using souls to resurrect Onaga’s undead army. Upon hearing Liu Kang’s death, Kitana’s heart trembled and joined the Earthrealm forces into battle against a great threat once again. However, the combined might of the two sorcerers proved to be too much for the Kitana and Earthrealm’s warriors as they succumbed one by one. Kitana did not meet her complete demise as Onaga resurrected her from the dead and put her under his control along with the Earthrealm warriors. Kitana helped imprisoned her mother, Sindel, but she was eventually free after Kitana’s best friend, Jade bested her in battle and the two escaped to Outworld. After Onaga’s defeat, a zombified Liu Kang with the help of Ermac freed Kitana and the rest of the Earthrealm forces from the Dragon King’s control. Kitana partook in the Battle of Armageddon, battling Kano before being swiped away by Kintaro. She retained most of her role in the alternate timeline, but during Outworld’s invasion of Earthrealm, Kitana, Jade, and most of the Earthrealm warriors died a brutal death while battling Sindel and were sent to the Netherealm under Quan Chi’s control.

Powers/Abilities (Orihime Inoue)
Stated by Aizen himself, Orihime's power is considered a phenomenon rejection ~ limiting, rejecting, and denying things that happen to certain objects. In other words, it allows things to go back to the way they were before it happens. Aizen went so far as to say that Orihime's power - Shun Shun Rika is greater than turning back time or reverting space, having the ability to overturn the events set by GOD himself, and finally ~ her power "impinges upon God's territory." Before, however, Shun Shun Rika were 6 manifestations of Orihime's spirit that allows her to fire projectiles, form shields, and, as Aizen said it best, allows things to go back to the way they once were. The names of her Shun Shun Rika are: Ayame, Baigon, Hinagiku, Lily, Shun'o, & Tsubaki. Honestly, Aizen's explanation of Orihime's power sum her up.

Powers/Abilities (Kitana)
Physiological-wise, Kitana is 10,000 years old, but her body still looks like that of a woman in her early 20s. As Shao Kahn’s adopted daughter, she was trained under him to become a deadly assassin, excelling in hand-to-hand combat. Her weapons of choice are twin steel fans and she relies more on battling with those weapons rather than her given skill sets as a hand-to-hand kombatant. With the steel fans, she is able to use it as a long range projectile, as a weapon for short range melee, and as means to use it sonic waves to levitate the opponent, giving her a free hit. She can also use the fans for airborne attacks and she can do a midair punch to counter airborne opponents. In the later games, she has managed to master teleportation. Her notable fatality is her Kiss of Death or her take on the Kiss of Death considering Sonya has the same fatality move. In Kitana’s own interpretation of the Kiss of Death, she blows a kiss to her opponent and the opponent’s body inflates like a massive balloon before exploding. As the Princess of Edenia, Kitana has shown to have great leadership and is shown to possess great persuasion and negotiations, having convinced the Earthrealm warriors to join her fight, her best friend Jade to come back to her side, and her mother Sindel to turn away, and mediating the peace between Shokans and Centaurians all as means to overthrow Shao Kahn.

Verdict (By Stillmattic)
And the winner is...
Orihime Inoue is what I call a very under-utilized character. She played a very central role throughout the Hueco Mundo Arc, but soon afterwards ~ she reverted back to being on the sidelines. This battle came down to one thing ~ utilization of character (full plate vs. no plate) and Kitana's character is more utilized in MK because of her transformation from evil to good and seeing that transformation in action. To me, Kitana is more of a fleshed out character in MK than Orihime is to Bleach. Kitana is a 10,000 year old princess while Orihime is a teenager ~ the wise vs. the childish, it seems pretty stupid to bring this up, but a woman who is both hot and wise has more going for her than a woman whose nature varies but is heavily leaning towards immaturity (this is my opinion, so don't fret ladies). Kitana's character is badass ~ she's a princess, an assassin, possesses great leadership skills, is very persuasive (she can persuade me anytime if ya know what I mean), and overall is a mediator of peace as a means to thwart evil's reign of terror. With Orihime, I can't really picture it because, as I said above, she's very under-utilized right after the Hueco Mundo Arc + her very powers aren't as utilized much anymore. Sure both had sh*tty pasts and whatnot, but that's not the point here ~ a character is what drives the story, making the audience feel invested and giving a sh*t about that character as well as their overall role/importance. A story lacking utilization of major characters is never a good sign~ why make that character feel less important? Kitana is more relevant in her franchise than Orihime is and as much as I think Orihime is a funny gal, it doesn't change the fact that Kitana's character clearly is more fixated on the most important thing both franchises are going for ~ Doing good and thwarting evil. KITANA WINS...FLAWLESS VICTORY!
