BCC 2 Match #10 - Kitana vs. Nami (Mortal Kombat vs. One Piece)

VS.

Welcome back to another installment of BCC 2 with featured collaboration from my best friend & author of the Trueraiderlaker blog,  MechG. BCC 2 is pitting the best of the best when it comes to Videogames & Anime. The emphasis on BCC (Big-BEEWBED Catfight) is on the lovely ladies from each franchise, judging their story, personality, and appeal as the basis of the subject matter as well deciding on the consensus on whose the better woman in our personal opinion. So far, the Videogame Babes are still leading 6-3 against the Anime Cuties. MechG judged last week's posts, but yours truly will be deciding the consensus for this week. Today's Matchup is Mortal Kombat's Kitana & One Piece's Nami. Let's jam!

Story (Kitana)

Born into Edenia’s royal family of King Jerrod and Queen Sindel, Kitana didn’t know too much about her parents when Shao Kahn invaded the realm, killed Jerrod, took Sindel as his wife (though she committed suicide), and took the young princess as his own. Kitana spent the rest of her life growing up as Shao Kahn’s “daughter” and was trained to become a deadly assassin under the Emperor’s guide. Kitana later found out about her real past and though she remained loyal to her “father,” she would wait when the time is ripe to usurp him and bring him to justice. She eventually did not once, but twice when Shao Kahn tried to kill every Earthrealm warrior in a false MK tournament and when he broke the rules to enter the dimensional gates and invade Earthrealm by reviving Kitana’s mother, Sindel. Since then as princess of Edenia, she has engaged in integral political negotiations like having the Shokans and Centaurians get along to finish Kahn off while at the same time, keeping her feelings for Liu Kang constant even in his death in Deadly Alliance. In the alternate timeline, she was killed off by Sindel, but her soul is kept in place with Quan Chi and the Netherrealm.

Story (Nami)
When she was a child, she, alongside adoptive sister Nojiko, were adopted by a Marine who was murdered by infamous pirate, Arlong. She has a fondness for navigation and maps and it would eventually become her profession as she became the Strawhat's official Navigator. Arlong, the pirate who killed their adoptive mother, took in Nami and forced her into her crew. It was during these dark times that her peaceful days were slithering away as she became obsessed with $$$ and she became a pretty big bounty. Everything, however, changed when Nami crossed paths with Luffy. At first, she didn't think any highly of him, but Nami soon changes her mind and becomes a part of the Strawhat crew after seeing that not all pirates are bad. Luffy & everyone else is what saved Nami and what has changed her opinion on the meaning of pirates. Nami officially joined the moment Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, & Usopp went to beat the living crap out of Arlong & his crew. Luffy's willingness to save Nami is both admirable and heroic since Nami has been shouldering everything ~ even going so far as to end her own life because of the tragic past she experienced. The Strawhat crew gave her a new purpose in life and she now has someone she can call home & family. Ever since then, Nami has embarked on many adventured with the crew in hopes to find the one & only treasure: One Piece.

Personality (Kitana)
Kitana is a highly disciplined woman and based on that quote, she’s a no-nonsense type of gal who demands high discipline, respect, and loyalty. I mean, she’s the 10,000 year old Princess of Edenia who is actually ROOOOOYAAAAAAL. She was highly loyal to Shao Kahn since she was his stepdaughter until she found out her f-d up past regarding Kahn, her mother Sindel and her actual dad, Jerrod, that’s when she started to develop a personality of her own of not just a deadly assassin, but a powerful woman who has a strong sense of…wait for it…JUSTICE! Kitana also has feelings for the champ Liu Kang as the two were an integral couple of the MK series and they’re still in love especially when Liu died in Deadly Alliance and when she died in the alternate timeline in the MK universe, talk about till death do us part. I mean, 10,000 years old, but still looks like a hot girl in her 20s, who can’t blame Liu for getting some of that after constantly kicking everyone’s @$$ in Mortal Kombat?

Personality (Nami)
Nami is the 3rd person to join the Strawhat crew and is depicted as its navigator. She's one of the smartest members of the crew, but also is depicted as being bossy, greedy, and all-around over-reacts to the Strawhats antics. She's especially bossy to all the guys since they act like a bunch of children and she, alongside Nico Robin, are probably the maturest of the group. Despite her greedy nature, she's learned to be happy for what she has now such as a group to call a family. Unlike Kitana who is disciplined, Nami is the complete opposite of that as her tendency to overreact and lose her temper on antics is her comic relief in both the Anime & Manga rendition of One Piece. Before, she was uninterested in becoming a pirate, but now ~ she takes part with her family as they strive for the grand treasure: One Piece.

Appeal (Kitana)
Say, she does look like Jennifer Lopez in her prime. I’m talking her concept art in the earlier games like MKII-MK4. Kitana may be the type of girl who demands respect and emphasizes on discipline, but damn her hot revealing outfit doesn’t reflect on those two traits. However, that is a testament to her being a good assassin, kicking @$$ and taking names in cold blood. Yeah, she may be 10,000 years old, but as the great Aaliyah (R.I.P.) once said: “age is nothing but a number.” You can’t deny that pretty face, them BEEWBZ you just want to grope on, them sexy @$$ thighs, and that booty that you just want to tap. Once again, Liu Kang is goddamn lucky he gets to “Finish Her” after quelling the forces of evil and get into some friendship-sexality-babality with her.

Appeal (Nami)
Nami, since the beginning of One Piece, has been portrayed as a women who used her sexual appeal to get whatever she wanted. It didn't help either that after the timeskip, her BEEWBZ got even bigger & her hair grew longer. She, alongside Nico Robin, are the fanservice that One Piece offers. Always seen depicting cleavage, in bath scenes, or stripteases ~ Nami is one hell of a girl to fall for. Not only are you constantly look at her rack, but man ~ I'd join the Strawhat crew just so I can be with her. That's a pirate's life for me! Would I tap that? I'd be sent to Davy Jones Locker if I didn't. Nami make me horny!

Verdict (By Stillmattic)
And the winner is...
I'm going to be like MechG on this one and say I chose Nami because her relevance in the One Piece storyline, in my opinion, has more of an impact than it does for Kitana in Mortal Kombat. For a series that doesn't seem like it's going to end anytime soon, Nami's influence in the story is one of the drives/purposes behind Luffy's conquest to obtain the One Piece treasure. Without Nami, The Strawhat crew wouldn't have started. The crew grew and the conquest drifted in far more ways than expected, but they never lost the sight of what was important ~ The Strawhat Pirates were a family first than a Pirate crew. I will admit Kitana's relevance in MK is also noted, but I think the overall buildup of Nami has been gradual and is still ongoing w/more than 700+ chapters into the story & it's not even remotely close to ending. With Kitana from MK, we see her contribution to the story in the games, but I kind of think her build-up as a character is instant. I also will be the first to say I have a huge crush in Nami and though Kitana can fan me anyday, I'd take Nami anyday because she can navigate me in so many ways. Nami's backstory is also tragic considering we have no idea on who bore her or where she came from. All we know is that she's an orphan and her adopted mother was killed by a Pirate. The fact that Nami's perspective on pirates change after meeting Luffy clearly shows that her character's overall change is more noteworthy because it's memorable to see someone bounce back up and find a new purpose after having experienced something horrendous. In this man's opinion, Nami & her BEEWBZ win this one. I know you MK fans are pissed, but hey ~ there's always Jade vs. Nico Robin this Wednesday.

So who do you think won? Kitana from Mortal Kombat or Nami from One Piece? Comment below and let me know. As always, look forward to BCC 2 Matchups on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays all throughout December. Until then, you all stay classy now. Videogame Babes still lead 6-4 against the Anime Cuties. Also be sure to check out MechG's blog: http://trueraiderlaker.blogspot.com/ that covers sports-themed topics on the LA Lakers & Oakland Raiders.
