Death God's Bebop (Track #1) - Peaceful Afternoon
Welcome to Saturday's first Death God's Bebop. In this segment, I talk about the music in Bleach from the OSTs, intros & endings, and movie themed songs and I give you my honest opinion on how it sounds and how it fits into the Bleach Universe. Our first song is titled Peaceful Afternoon (The song playing in the background of the Blog). Now honestly, this song is what you'd call cheerful, nostalgic/reminiscent, optimistic, and overall a good feeling song. Nothing bad ever happens when this beautiful 2 minute piece is playing and what defines this type of jive is the feeling of the characters revolving around the instrumental. Peace and normality revolve around Ichigo (for example) and his family, as if the world is their oyster and they are living life day by day comically and normally in their oyster. At school or at home, peace can be shown and the song Peaceful Afternoon clearly symbolizes Ichigo's nonchalant behavior and perception of how things are at school and at home when there's no danger. He's at peace, things are going fine w/his friends, and he lives a comical and ordinary life at home with his immature dad and his two sisters. This song doesn't just extend to just Ichigo, but on other characters (like Orihime & Rukia just to name a few). This song also shapes a character's memory of peace, reminiscing how the good ol' days were or how such good things come with reward and smiles or just how far a safe day can go when nothing can go wrong. It's a sign of perpetual peace, nostalgia, and happiness and this song clearly shows how far these 3 elements has extended to these characters and how they feel and act towards their own perception of their days and with the environment/people they encounter. It's a "Everything's going to be okay" kinda jive. And I firmly believe, this song is a song to consider when you're feeling down in the dumps - to look back at the times in which life was peaceful and life had its smiles and laughs.
If you'd like to hear Shiro Sagisu's wonderful masterpiece to Tite Kubo's Bleach, the album cover w/Peaceful Afternoon on the track listing is pictured below (I believe this to be the 1st Soundtrack of OSTs). Stay Classy.
