To end the "Old Man's Wisdom" Affinity posts, we take a look into Captain Yamamoto's interaction with our protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki. It's easy to say that Ichigo has played a profound role throughout Bleach and has become the gravitas of the Gotei 13 as one of its greatest assets. At first, however, Captain Yamamoto saw Ichigo & his friends as mere intruders w/only wanted to cause trouble and disrupt the natural order of things (in this case, Rukia's execution). However, as soon as Ichigo proved himself as an ally when battling Aizen & his Espada, Yamamoto has a change of heart ~ taking into account Ichigo's strength, tenacity, and youth. However, there have been instances where Captain Yamamoto looked down on Ichigo ~ a prime example is when Captain Yamamoto refused to help Ichigo save Orihime from Aizen's grasp. Yamamoto was under the suspicion that Orihime left on her own accord, but of course Ichigo saw that it was probably a kidnapping of some sort. Nonetheless, these two powerful figures came to respect one another in terms of strength, but don't see eye to eye when it comes to decision-making. Ichigo's strength is so paramount in the victory of Aizen's forces that Captain Yamamoto believed it was necessary to aid him during his time of need against the Xcution. When Ichigo lost his powers, Captain Yamamoto ordered all the Captains to pour a bit of their reiatsu into a single blade and, by impaling Ichigo with that blade, will be able to restore Ichigo's Shinigamu powers. Though the two rarely interact, going from animosity to respect is a big step. Of course we'll never see these two fight since Captain Yamamoto fell to Yhwach and Ichigo is in a crisis on how to handle fighting a overpowering Yhwach. In the end, these two powerful figures are well-respected and are paramount in the Bleach universe.
I hope you enjoyed this week's Affinity. Look forward to Affinity posts on Tuesdays. Until then, you all stay classy now.
