This week’s chapter had one of the most complicated
cliffhangers in which Shunsui Kyoraku, the Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13,
alerts Ichigo’s friends, Tatsuki, Keigo, and Mizuiro, about them eventually
saying their goodbyes to Ichigo. To which I say – What? How? When? Who? And
most of all – Huh? Ichigo is our main hero that is without question, and has
become a special war potential. Not only is he Shinigami, but he recently
discovered that Ichigo’s deceased mother, Masaki Kurosaki, was once a Quincy.
Ichigo is a hybrid child of a Shinigami and a Quincy, two mortal enemies that
now rest in Ichigo’s blood. Ichigo’s ordinary days before embarking on rescuing
have been normal. Ichigo’s friends have always known him to be laid back,
tough, and kindhearted. Even Rukia was able to get a glimpse on Ichigo’s high
school days. So to say that Tatsuki and group will eventually have to part ways
with him is very hard to digest. It’s a goodbye in which there is/may not be a
reunion. I said in WBCR’s review (7/10/13) that Ichigo could potentially be a captain
candidate, could possibly be too much of a threat to the human world, or is to
special for both the Shinigami and Quincy that it contradicts him living
normally due to the circumstances surrounding his past. What are Ichigo’s
friends thinking at this moment of the news? Why would they take away our friend? Is it because he’s a Shinigami and
we’re human with some consciousness of the supernatural? Does this also extend to Ichigo's family? OR is it because there
are bigger and better things for Ichigo out there overall? Well, we will have to
tune in for next week’s chapter to possibly elaborate more on this complicated
cliffhanger. IF not, then we just have
to wait until the author explains it best he can without it sounding stupid,
predictable, and cliché. Until then, you stay classy now. Photos courtesy of Bleach images (Chapter 545)
