Affinity #66 - The Brilliant Numbnuts

What happens when you pit two brilliant freaks together? Well, you'd probably get Mayuri Kurotsuchi & Szayelaporro Granz for starters, but also you get the mad scientists. These scientists truly are mad and aren't afraid to do experiments that defy human logic or morality. All for the purpose of research is the tagline that defines them, but the one difference between the two, as I said previously, is the concept of perfectionism. Imperfection is the key to being a scientists ~ understanding the morality of ethics in research & study. If one believes they are beyond all, then that alone is a unethical and immoral belief that stems from ignorance and pure gratification. Mayuri was able to see through each nook and cranny of everything that revolves around him, but if you were to ask if he is a perfect being ~ he isn't because he acknowledges his imperfections and that the wonderful thing about science is that it's never perfect and that's why research is relentless. Despite both being intelligent and unique in their own right, the Espada's downfall was his unwillingness to see the grand design/scale of the scientific community. Mayuri was able to kill him in one swoop because he is imperfect and that imperfection alone victors over any sensible perfectionist ideal. Scientists acknowledge the rights and wrongs of their research and only continue to strive to work above and beyond that in which they are capable of reaching. Mayuri is such a one-of-a-kind character because no matter how gifted or strong you think you are, so long as ideals clash ~ Mayuri's imperfect ways will always outwit the perfects.

I hope you enjoyed this week's Affinity. Look forward to Affinities on Tuesdays. Until then you all stay classy now.
