BCC 2 Match #7 ~ Ivy vs. Ryuko Matoi (Soulcalibur vs. Kill La Kill)

VS.

Welcome back to another installment of BCC 2 with featured collaboration from my best friend & author of the Trueraiderlaker blog,  MechG. BCC 2 is pitting the best of the best when it comes to Videogames & Anime. The emphasis on BCC (Big-BEEWBED Catfight) is on the lovely ladies from each franchise, judging their story, personality, and appeal as the basis of the subject matter as well deciding on the consensus on whose the better woman in our personal opinion. So far, the Videogame Babes are leading 4-2 against the Anime Cuties. I judged last week's posts, but this will MechG will take over in deciding the consensus. Today's Match is between Soulcalibur's Ivy and Kill La Kill's renowned Ryuko Matoi. Let's jam!

Story (Ivy)
Ivy was raised in one of England’s richest and most prestigious Valentine family as Isabella Valentine. Ivy’s father, Earl Valentine was driven into madness in searching for “The Key to Eternal Youth,” Soul Edge and died from unknown circumstances while her mother, better known as the Countess, fell ill and died while searching for her husband, leaving Ivy as the sole survivor of the Valentine family. In typical Maury fashion, Ivy found out they were not her real parents, but she didn’t care since the Valentine family was all she knew. She sorted through the family archives and found out about Soul Edge and sought to avenge the death of her father. Ivy created and brought to life a sword/whip hybrid weapon she nicknamed the “Ivy Blade” and sought out to destroy Soul Edge and those who wielded it. In some events, Ivy eventually comes across Cervantes, her real father as he tries to consume her soul to continue living.

Story (Ryuko)
Kill La Kill starts off with our main protagonist, Ryuko Matoi, enrolling in a Honnoji Academy to search for the person who killed his father and took the other half of her scissor blade. Inexperienced at the trials & tribulations of Honnoji Academy's Goku Uniforms & its wearers, Ryuko found herself in a corner until she discovered Senketsu, a Sailor Uniform that amplifies her power, durability, and agility ten-fold while at the same exposing a great deal of her body. She encounters the Queen of the Honnoji Academy Satsuki Kiryuin, and comes to assume that she is responsible for the death of Ryuko's father. The two start a rivalry while Ryuko has to pass through the Elite 4 in order to even reach Satsuki. It's soon revealed that Ryuko's mother is the chairwoman of Honnoji Academy's Board of Directors and is the true antagonist after realizing Satsuki wasn't the biggest threat in Ryuko's way & their mother sent her henchmen, Nui, to kill their father. Another reveal in the story is that Ryuko is the younger sister of Satsuki. At the end of the series, Ryuko & Satsuki acknowledge they are sisters and live happily in a world not ruled by Goku or Sailor uniforms.

Personality (Ivy)
What comes to mind when thinking about Ivy’s personality? Heartless, cold-blooded, I mean she is Cervantes’ daughter. Ivy is a lady who has ice water in her veins. When she encounters an opponent, she starts to spite him/her with a lot of dramatic sentences and phrases that can be so condescending, yet it is a means for someone’s death with her bare hands, better yet with her sword that can turn into a whip for long range combat! Yeah, that’s much better. Ivy could be perceived as being aligned with evil in the Soulcalibur franchise due to her cold and stone hearted personality, but she is more on as a neutral character as she just wants to just cut ties with her bond with the evil Soul Edge if it means obtaining Soul Calibur to sever it.

Personality (Ryuko)
Ryuko is a fierce and stubborn girl ~ showing her ferocity when starting fights with Honnoji Academy's Goku wearers. She's fearless when it comes to anything that stands in her way, going so far as to disrespect Satsuki when everyone hails her as God-like being. However, when she puts on Senketsu (at first), she's embarrassed of the exposure of a good portion of her body, but later comes to accept it as a part of her. She's very determined in finding the culprit behind her father's death and hence why her ferocity and fearlessness shine when in combat. However, she's stubborn as she doesn't perceive an enemy's attacks and abilities  100% and often gets her @SS kicked before she does the @$$ kicking herself.

Appeal (Ivy)
I’m going to repeat what I said back when writing about Taki’s appeal, there is no doubt that Ivy, along with Taki are the hottest and most notable female characters in the Soulcalibur franchise. So what separates Ivy from Taki? Aside from them, having big, jiggling BEEWBZ, Ivy has a more a revealing outfit. Even though it’s disappointing Namco tried to wrap her up even more to not be revealing in the later games, her revealing outfit alone defines her appeal. Revealing, cleavage, revealing legs, revealing big BEEWBZ, I wish I can snag that sword/whip from her because she deserves a few licks for acting like such a bad girl, personality-wise.

Appeal (Ryuko)
Ryuko Matoi is the mascot character for Kill La Kill and since the show itself is full of fanservice (eyecandy), her Senketsu outfit exposes a good portion of her body ~ including her BEEWBZ & @$$ nonchalantly being emphasized greatly. She's what you'd call "My Boo," and I have a great love & admiration not only for her design, but her character as a whole. Her motivation in finding the culprit behind her father's death is so unparalleled that exposing herself doesn't come to bother her anymore (It certainly doesn't bother me the slightest bit). Ryuko, as well as Satsuki, are the sexiest deadly duo I've ever seen and the fact that the series is over saddens me so. Though this masterpiece is over, I will go so far as to say that Ryuko Matoi is the hottest 2014 Anime girl I've ever seen ~ hotter than Orihime Inoue & Rukia Kuchiki put together (YES, I said it).

Verdict (By MechG)
And the winner is...
I just knew there was a reason why I chose this matchup. Not only do these two lovely ladies dress up in very revealing outfits, but they seem to have a very similar upbringing. They gotta find out who killed their dad (yes, I had to bring up a “Before My Body is Dry” aka “Don’t Lose Your Way” reference) with Ivy seeking to avenge her father by destroying Soul Edge, Ryuko seeking to avenge her father by defeating Satsuki, Ivy became one with her blade and Ryuko became one with Senketsu, they had unbelievable twists in terms of family, Cervantes being Ivy’s father and Satsuki and Ragyo being Ryuko’s sister and mother, too many similarities. I gotta tell ya, evaluating this one is hard as f*ck considering I love Soulcalibur, I love Kill la Kill now after prematurely throwing the Anime under the bus last year. But Big Brother is watching me this verdict, so I gotta give this to Ryuko. I’m not selecting her just because I’m being ransomed, but I find Ryuko to be much more appealing. She’s cute when she’s all smiles, particularly when she’s hanging and chilling with Mako, but she’s a bad@$$ with all business when dealing with Satsuki and the Elite Four and later with the matriarch of the accursed Kiryuin family and their obsession with life fibers. With Ivy, of course with exception of some Soulcalibur characters, almost every character is balanced in their story with the common goal of destroying Soul Edge. Yeah Ivy’s story took some twist and turns, but Ryuko’s story was filled with a lot of twist and turns. Your eyes become unglued and you just had to continue watching KLK on what happened next. You can’t deny how amazing the bond she had with Mako and Senketsu and how she developed her relationship with Satsuki after episodes from trying to beat the crap out of her to reveal what happened to her father to accepting her as her “nee-san” and overthrowing their Kris (Kardashian) Jenner-wannabe mother. Sorry SC fans if your two top-tier females got swept in this BCC, but story is indeed a top-tier critical point in this BCC hence why Ryuko Matoi is the winner. Stillmattic, feel better now? (He’s still crying from yesterday’s loss. Lol.)

So who do you think won? Ivy from Soulcalibur or Ryuko Matoi from Kill La Kill? Comment below and let me know. As always, look forward to BCC 2 Matchups on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays all throughout December. Until then, you all stay classy now. Videogame Babes lead 4-3 against the Anime Cuties. Also be sure to check out MechG's blog: http://trueraiderlaker.blogspot.com/ that covers sports-themed topics on the LA Lakers & Oakland Raiders.
