Remember this black comedy/slap-stick Anime? It aired on Adult Swim and I, for some odd reason, took a quick liking to it. Why is that exactly? Was it because the main character's stupidity is just unbelievably entertaining or the fact that he's an actual 5 year old whose a literal smartass to everyone and anyone he's with? Well, the best way to put it is that this show reminds me a lot like South Park. The characters never age and its just shenanigans, hijinks, and just a lot of slap-stick/gags. This show is boggles my mind to this day because some consider it quite entertaining to watch and others dismiss it out of pure stupidity. More power to the people who don't like it, but this show isn't for everyone. The humor can sometimes be hit and miss, but the fact of the matter is ~ the main character's a 5 year old, we should dismiss the logic because when I was that age, I was still sh!tting my diapers. It's quite comical also that even his parents are "WTF" whenever they see their son's hijinks. He's a big troll that just likes having fun & making everyone's lives a living hell for his amusement. Much like Cartman from South Park, he gets a kick out of causing misery and inflicting pain so as to fill in the void of time. Though Shin Chan isn't as F'd up as South Park, it incorporated elements of black comedy, had slap-stick/gags, and the it's more adult-themed despite it looking kid-friendly. Is it a definite watch? Well, it's entirely up to you. For me, it is a nostalgic Anime that's funny at times, but the kid's eccentric personality and character made up for it.
