BCC #9 - Momo Hinamori vs. Subaru (Big-BEEWBED Sweethearts)

VS.

I'd like to apologize in advance for posting the BCC Round a day late, but the show must shown on regardless. Welcome back to BCC Month where our lovely Bleach girls will BEEWB-to-BEEWB against various Anime chicks from multiple series (EX: FMA, Black Lagoon, Inuyasha, etc). So far Bleach has won once whereas the other Anime girls are favored more. Today's Matchup is the sweethearts ~ kind-hearted women who've taken the time to help out others in need. They may not be physically strong, but they are the morale support any man would need, right? They care for one's wellbeing, learned to combat evil when need be, & overall display a sense of innocence because they are pure. One is a Death God & the other is a Avatar (An online character). Determined and often soft-spoken, these two put the "Sweet" in sweetheart. Our Match is between Bleach's 5th division Lieutenant, Momo Hinamori, & .Hack//Sign's Leader of the Crimson Knights ~ Subaru (No, not the car). Let's jam on some BEEWBZ!

Personality (Momo)
Momo Hinamori is a very determined, upbeat, easygoing, & friendly Shinigami. She became a Shinigami in order to follow in the footsteps of then-Captain, Aizen Sousuke. She is Toshiro Hitsugaya's childhood friend and often is seen as a sibling-like figure to him. However, Momo also has displayed anger/sadness when almost killing Toshiro for believing he was responsible for killing Aizen. Since Aizen's defection, Momo was psychologically damaged because the one person she came to respect turned out to be truly despicable. However, over time she's seen working alongside new Captain Shinji Hirako and continues her duties as Lieutenant.

Personality (Subaru)
.Hack/Sign is the one of the very 1st Anime that I tuned in to watch when it premiered on Toonami and, much like Ichihime, my favorite couple were the protagonists ~ Tsukasa & Subaru. What drew me to Subaru was how soft-spoken she was despite being the renowned Leader of the Crimson Knights. Apart from her character just being an Avatar to a online gamer, Subaru displays a determined personality since she's a mediator of disputes both inside & outside the guild. She's a caring woman who is deeply rooted to her position in protecting others as well as bringing peace to the world.

HCA Levels (Momo)
To me, Bleach girls falls into 2 categories ~ having huge Knockers or being extremely cute. Sometimes their can be both, but most times the cute factor has more of a role. Momo is a pretty-well drawn character & the moment I saw her ~ I was attracted to her. I wanted to know more about her ~ her motivation behind why she enlisted in the Gotei 13, her eagerness to obey & please her former Captain's commands, & her willingness to go through lengths despite being impaled by her Captain. Her character overall was appealing just on the basis of what she went through, how she had to cope with it, and her eventual acceptance that Aizen is no more. That and I love how her & Toshiro were so close ~ definitely a cute pair.

HCA Levels (Subaru)
Subaru's Avatar character consists of a short-blue haired woman that has Angel wings, wields an axe, and wears clothing that reveals her abdomen. Since she was one of the 1st Anime chicks I was introduced to (next to DBZ & Pokemon girls), I found her to be cute at the time. There's an attractive quality in Subaru because of her soft-spoken demeanor, but also displaying a determined personality when it comes to peace & harmony. She's an appealing character to be around, but that only stems from the fact that her position is of upmost importance. Take away her position and she'll just be an ordinary player Avatar living in what seems to be a RPG-filled world.

BEEWBZ (Momo)
They aren't as developed as Rangiku's so.... I'd say they're small.

BEEWBZ (Subaru)
Not much to say since .Hack/Sign rarely displays any fanservice. I'd say they're small.

Final Decision (Momo vs. Subaru)
And the winner is...
Though Subaru plays 2nd to the main character in .Hack/Sign, this is a scenario in which a supporting character can take the spotlight and have just as much relevance as any other character. I haven't seen .Hack//Sign since I was a kid and looking back on it, I found the show to be rather boring and irksome to watch at times. At the time, I was invested in Tsukasa & Subaru's relationship than I do with the overall story, but with Momo Hinamori ~ I was invested in both her character and her overall role in story. Despite being supporting, she plays a huge role in Toshiro's life considering their childhood friends & they almost killed each other over a misinterpreted note by Aizen surrounding the man w/supposedly turned on him. Psychologically damaged, Momo continued believing that something must've swayed Aizen to turn the other cheek despite Aizen being bad since the beginning. Momo was impaled by Aizen and yet Momo shows compassion & understanding for his well-being ~ wanting to talk to him rather than start a war against him & newfound allies. Momo has to overcome so much in order to get to where she is now ~ serving under Shinji Hirako & fighting a new enemy. In the past, Momo solely joined the Gotei 13 because of Aizen Sousuke and now that her admirer turned out to be the granddaddy of all Evil, Momo had to go through the 5 stages of Grief in order to revert back to her usual upbeat, helpful, kind, & cheerful self. To me, that has much more significance as a character. Subaru may be the Leader of the Crimson Knights, but rarely do I remember her role considering the other boring supporting characters took away her screen-time. Momo is the clear winner and a epitome of someone whose learned to overcome the odds in order to start her life anew.

So who do you think won? Momo from Bleach or Subaru from .Hack//Sign? Comment below and let me know. Look forward to BCC posts on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays until September 29th. I do apologize once again for the delay, but I promise it won't happen again. Until then, you all stay classy now,
