Affinity #92 - Strawberry & Turnip (Ichigo & Renji)

We are in the month of June and in a month, both the Affinity & Throwback posts will come to an end. These are 2 of my longest-running segments, going up to 100 is no easy feat, but I was able to do it. Although at times I can sound redundant, I like to analyze/reanalyze specific elements in Bleach. One such Affinity that is, in my opinion, that carries a lot of gravitas is the friendship between our protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, and enemy turned friend & 6th Division Lieutenant, Renji Abarai. So the question I need to address is ~ Do Strawberries & Turnips get along? Well, in this case they do and, much like bickering brothers, they have each other's backs after coming to the realization that neither of them were enemies and they both wanted to save the damsel in distress (Rukia). Back in the Human World when Ichigo first stumbled across his newfound power, he wasn't made aware of the difference in strength between himself and an actual Lieutenant-ranked Shinigami. Renji and Byakuya were easy to deal with Ichigo as they made their way to taking off with Rukia. Renji, Rukia's childhood friend, held animosity toward Ichigo, but after their second and final confrontation, Renji realized Ichigo wasn't an enemy, but a man whose goal is very much similar to his ~ Save Rukia from Distress. Renji would learn to achieve Bankai as he wanted to save Rukia, but the same cannot be said for the man called "Nii-Sama" (Byakuya). Byakuya, Rukia's older brother, intends to not hold anything back, even if it means going against his sister (Rukia) and extracting her execution on the basis that she committed a crime. However, both Ichigo & Renji's actions managed to dissuade Byakuya as he soon gave up on the idea of executing his own sister. Ichigo & Renji's determination, courage, and unrelenting confidence are what define them. Both looking like thugs, but with a heart of gold ~ these two are best friends/brothers.
